No i ogromną rolę odgrywa marketing.
- to konsola przenośna (co praktycznie gwarantuje wysoką sprzedaż w Japonii, a i gdzie indziej powinna być lepiej odebrana);

GBA, DS i Wii przyniosły firmie naprawdę kupę kasy.
The company's boss David Cole also said the following:http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/01/dfc_intelligence_believes_nintendo_switch_can_shift_40_million_units_by_2020
The Switch is a compelling piece of hardware that could potentially reach a much larger addressable market. However given the limited software and Nintendo's poor recent track record of introducing new products we have tempered our forecasts to be conservative.
Pre-orders for Switch opened in Japan today. The turnout was pretty decent, with long lines forming at various locations. Places such as Yodobashi Camera were packed with people waiting to pre-order Nintendo’s system.http://nintendoeverything.com/long-lines-form-for-switch-pre-orders-in-japan/

It's still January but 2017 seems to be Nintendo's year. We have already received more pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch than the PlayStation 4, and it's still going strong! The first batch to release in March is already fully booked, but we recommend you sign up for the next shipment for the highly wanted gaming console to ensure to get one in the next coming days and weeks after it's release.
The following is a translated excerpt from Hachima, a Japanese video game blog. The original can be found here. The survey was conducted on the site itself, so I wouldn’t take it as definitive proof one way or the other. See the Dangers of Online Polling for more information.http://sourcegaming.info/2017/01/18/japanese-players-impressions-of-the-switch/
There are also some reports that Hachima is a pretty anti-Nintendo in general, so please take these results with a grain of salt.

Media Create says that Switch pre-orders have already surpassed 80 percent of the system’s initial shipment. While we sadly don’t have a specific number for Switch’s initial shipment in Japan, the fact that it’s already sold through such a high percentage is encouraging. This was also done just after pre-orders opened last weekend.http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-pre-orders-off-to-a-strong-start-in-japan-reportedly-over-80-of-initial-shipment/
It’s not exact science, but Comg may offer some initial insight. The retailer shows reservation percentage by points. It’s said that the points correspond to overall Japanese sales, and pre-orders for Zelda: Breath of the Wild are already higher than Zelda: A Link Between Worlds which sold a little over 200,000 copies during its initial week. Some people are therefore speculating that Switch’s initial shipment might be more than 400,000 – but again, this is far from an official number.
Many local retailers in Japan already seem to be closing reservations for Switch. Anecdotally, a close friend of the site tells us that he lives in a non-urban area, yet several stores nearby no longer have pre-orders available.
It’ll be very interesting to see how many Switch units are initially sent to Japan and how much the console sells at launch. Zelda: Breath of the Wild is looking like a popular buy, and 1-2-Switch could be the next best-selling title based on Comg’s rankings.
Data collected by Google Trends indicates that consumers have a much bigger interest in Switch compared to its predecessor, the Wii U. The phrase “pre order Nintendo Switch” is seeing roughly five times the number of searches as “pre order Wii U” prior to launch. The latter phrase only experienced about 20 percent of the number of searches that the former one has had. Also, the term “Wii U” only had had more searches than the current data for “Nintendo Switch” during the week of its launch.http://nintendoeverything.com/google-trends-shows-much-bigger-pre-order-interest-in-switch-than-wii-u/
It’s worth noting that “pre order Wii” earned roughly 47 percent of what Switch is receiving now. However, we should point out that things were much different in 2006, as online shopping / pre-ordering wasn’t nearly as prominent as it is now.
So far, Nintendo is seeing pre-orders similar to those of Wii in France. The company also expects to sell 800,000 units this year, which would be the lifetime sales of Wii U. That includes 95,000 units on day one with a near 100 percent conversion rate with Zelda: Breath of the Wild.http://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo-france-on-switch-sales-expectations-games-3ds/
Gray is currently more popular than the neon option at the moment. However, Lavoue thinks things will ultimately shift in the opposite direction.
(...)
As for games, Gamekult pointed out how Zelda: Breath of the Wild is also on Wii U at launch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is more or less a title released on the old system. However, Lavoue was quick to point out that Mario Kart Wii sold three million copies in France while Mario Kart 8 is at roughly 350,000 units, meaning there is a big opportunity for release on Switch. Lavoue also doesn’t see an issue with Zelda, since pre-orders on Wii U aren’t close at all to Switch even though there are over 800,000 Wii U systems on the market.
From our sales perspective, we’re seeing incredible demand. We’re pleased with the Switch attach rate. People are not just buying one game. They’re buying multiple games.http://nintendoeverything.com/gamestop-seeing-tremendous-demand-for-switch-higher-pre-order-attach-rate-than-wii-u/
First up is GEO. GEO is a nation-wide CD and DVD rental / seller, and the majority of the store also sells new and used video games. They have 1,686 shops total in Japan and 1,131 of them are also selling video games.http://nintendoeverything.com/japanese-retailers-report-strong-pre-orders-for-switch-share-various-information/
GEO says that customers in their 30’s as well as families were responding the most to Switch. Only a few locations had lines forming for pre-orders, but its entire reservation slots were filled in two days. A reason why it filled faster than expected was due to low quantity. Moreover, there were many consumers who couldn’t buy Famicom Mini, PSVR, or PlayStation 4 Pro at launch, so that’s another reason why consumers rushed to reserve Switch.
Pre-orders for the gray color were taken before the neon version. Also, neon was reserved more by women, including those who came to reserve a system for their child.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was by far the most popular game. 1-2-Switch was next, followed by Super Bomberman R.
An official carrying case was the most popular peripheral. This may be due to the concept of taking a console experience on the go, which is resonating with consumers.
As for the price, the representative thinks it’s just right.
Next up is Bic Camera, a nation-wide major electronics and home appliances retailer. They only have 20 stores, but each one is a multi-floor gigantic building and located at the best and highly valuable districts of major cities.
At Bit Camera located in Yurakucho, 200 people formed a line for Switch. The Ikebukuro store had the longest line and there were 700 people amazingly enough. Switch didn’t seem to be receiving a ton of interest at Bic Camera after Nintendo presented the system, but as the day for reservations approached, interest continued to increase.
Just like GEO, gray was the more popular color option here. However, once it reached its quota, most customers decided to reserve the neon option.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild was unsurprisingly the most popular launch title followed by 1-2-Switch. There were more reservations for Dragon Quest Heroes I-II than expected, even it isn’t a brand new title.
The representative closed by saying that pricing for Switch is appropriate. He wants more supply of product.
Last but not least, we have some comments from Games Maya. Although Games Maya is a small independent video game retailer, it is widely known in Japan and the manager is also accepted as video game retailer’s opinion leader in a sense. The shop also pushes particular game with a special displays, events, etc. so Games Maya has the ability to occasionally create cult hits. Even some famous developers participate in autograph sessions only for the small independent shop.
Games Maya has seen a pretty huge reaction from consumers since Switch was presented. In fact, there were some who said they would buy it regardless of the price. Big lines formed during the day for pre-orders, and all slots were filled by around noon. The representative felt a stronger reaction compared to past consoles, but wants more supply of Switch.
It’s three for three with popular colors, as gray was more sought after here as well. Those coming with kids were reserving the neon version though. Also, customers stopped by who just wanted to reserve Switch no matter the color, so the final ratio between the two colors was roughly 6:4.
Launch title popularity was Zelda and next was 1-2-Switch. Popular peripheral was the Switch Pro Controller. Those who were pre-ordering Zelda also reserved the controller. The rep here is already seeing three times more demand from customers than actual supply, so she is predicting short supply. The demand was much more than expected.
For the price, the retailer representative had an impression that consumers accept it as being cheap. She also think it is cheaper than she expected, but was thinking that if the price was not below the PlayStation, it will be tough. She think the price is appropriate
Switch’s first 2-day sales in the Americas – meaning Friday and Saturday – were the best for any system in Nintendo history. The next closest was Wii, which launched during the holiday period.http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-in-america-best-2-day-sales-in-nintendo-history-zelda-best-selling-standalone-launch-game/
We’re also hearing that Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now the best-selling standalone launch title (meaning not a bundled game) in Nintendo history. The game managed to beat out Super Mario for N64.
Famitsu now has an article up on its actual website. Between March 3 and March 5, Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold 193,060 units at retail with a 58 percent attach rate. Also, Famitsu’s website reports a figure of 330,637, so we’ll be using that one instead of the previously-reported 313,700.http://nintendoeverything.com/japan-switch-sells-313700-units-in-first-week/
(...)
To compare, other notable console launches include the Wii at 371,900 units, Wii U at 308,600 units, and PlayStation 4 at 322,100 units.
By first week, that should mean Switch’s first three days on the market. Famitsu’s next reporting period is between February 27 and March 5, and Switch came out on March 3 – so that would account for sales from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/03/nintendo_switch_was_the_companys_biggest_selling_european_hardware_launch_ever
We can confirm that, across Europe, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history.
Launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has not only been bestowed with some of the highest review scores in gaming history, it's also the biggest-selling Nintendo launch title ever in Europe, even outselling Wii Sports in first weekend sales.
And all this in March – traditionally a quiet time for the games industry.
Similar to the Americas, Switch had a record-breaking launch in France. It’s not only the best result ever for a new Nintendo console, but also the biggest launch for consoles as a whole.http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-sells-105000-units-on-release-date-in-france-best-launch-for-a-console-in-history/
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was picked up by nearly all new Switch owners in France having sold 96,000 copies. Given that number, it’s an attach rate of over 91 percent. Breath of the Wild also sold 34,000 copies on Wii U.

The Switch’s launch seems to be setting records for Nintendo across many regions, as it has had the best launch of any Nintendo hardware in the Australia/New Zealand region. Not only that, but Breath of the Wild managed to sell more copies at launch than Wii Sports, which was a bundle game with the Wii. Breath of the Wild also sold more at launch that any previous Zelda game for the region.http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-is-the-best-selling-launch-for-nintendo-hardware-in-australianew-zealand/
According to a new report from Vandal, Switch is now Spain’s best console launch ever. The PlayStation 4 was the previous record holder, but the torch has been passed to Nintendo’s system having sold 45,000 units in its first three days.http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-is-spains-best-console-launch-in-history/
Switch seems to have sold through almost its entire batch of stock in Spain. Roughly 50,000 units were shipped to the country, resulting in a very high sell-through rate. More units should be making their way to out Spain in the weeks ahead.

Obviously we’ll be receiving an update on Nintendo’s performance for the overall fiscal year ending March 31. That should include news about Switch’s sales as well.http://nintendoeverything.com/nintendos-fiscal-year-earnings-release-set-for-april-27/
It was actually on April 27 of last year when we heard that Switch would be launching the following March. Nintendo also announced the Switch version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and confirmed that it would be its only game at E3 2016. Finally, Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing titles for mobile were made known.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nintendo will be ramping up production of Switch units from 8 million to 16 million from the period of 1st April, 2017 to 31st March, 2018.http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/03/nintendo_is_doubling_production_of_switch_units
Purchase intent for Switch and Scorpio is at PS4 levels or higher. Just a note on the Switch launch: We have had a very successful launch so far, with high attach rates of software, particularly Zelda and related addons. If the retailer is to be believed, Switch sales have been so strong, that it’s been selling out within a few hours following replenishments. “As Paul said we are also pleased with the recent Switch launch”, Bartel said. “We have had multiple replenishments since the launch, all of which have sold out in hours”, he stated.http://wccftech.com/gamestop-nintendo-switch-sales-hours/

The Switch sold 906,000 units in the United States during March, Nintendo has revealed. Today’s information comes straight from the NPD Group.http://nintendoeverything.com/march-2017-switch-sells-906000-units-in-march-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-over-1-3-million/
According to Nintendo, Switch is “one of the fastest-selling video game systems of all time.” It also comes “in a nontraditional month for a console launch.”
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also sold over 1.3 million copies. More than 925,000 units were on Switch while another 460,000 were from Wii U. Nintendo sold more of Zelda: Breath of the Wild than it sold Switch systems, for an attach rate of more than 100 percent. The reasoning here “may be attributed to people who purchased both a limited edition of the game to collect and a second version to play.”
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now the fastest-selling Nintendo launch game of all time. It’s also the fastest-selling game ever in the series.
Additionally, SuperData changes its projected sales of the Switch for 2017. They now estimate that the Switch will sell 7.2 million consoles this year, up from 5 million. The Switch seems to be on the road to overtake the Wii U’s lifetime sales figure of 13.56 million very early, if SuperData’s estimated figures are correct.http://nintendoeverything.com/research-firm-superdata-estimates-2-7-million-switch-consoles-sold-during-first-month/
According to analyst Sam Naji, “Switch had the biggest hardware launch for a Nintendo platform and the second biggest launch for any video game platform since 1995, the time NPD began tracking this category.”http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-has-second-biggest-hardware-launch-since-npd-began-tracking-sales-in-1995/
Naji later added:
“In this debut month (month 1), the Nintendo Switch sold 31K more units than previous best-selling Nintendo month-1 platform, the Game Boy Advance, which released back in June 2001. The two Nintendo Switch SKUs, the 32GB Gray Joy-Con, followed by the 32GB Neon Red/Blue Joy-Con, were the best-selling systems for the month.”
Between the time NPD started tracking sales in 1995, Zelda’s total since then is at $1.4 billion. Naji also says that the franchise “is the top-selling property of all time within the Adventure super genre, selling 54 percent more revenue than the next best-selling franchise, Resident Evil.”
Naji concluded by confirming that “Switch’s packaged software sold 1.3m units, a record high for a Nintendo platform launch.” 1-2-Switch also had an attach rate of 19 percent.

First, total hardware sales for Switch stands at 2.74 million worldwide. The system has also moved 5.46 million software units.http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-sells-2-74-million-units-worldwide-software-at-5-46-million-zelda-at-3-84-million/
Switch generated the most sales in the Americas with 1.2 million units. Next up was Europe at 940,000 units. Japan rounds things out with 600,000 units.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has seen “immense popularity,” Nintendo says. It sold 2.76 million copies on Switch alone, and 3.84 million with Wii U included.

Our initial plan was to ship two million units by the end of March. But as we announced yesterday, we have already shipped 2.74 million units through the end of March. Overall, sell-through of Nintendo Switch stacks up well, even in comparison to hardware that launched during holiday seasons. Given the timing of its launch and the rate at which the market is buying it up, Nintendo Switch is definitely off to a solid start. To take advantage of Nintendo Switch’s momentum, we will be bolstering our manufacturing and improving our supply situation going into the holiday season.http://nintendoeverything.com/kimishima-on-switch-sales-demographics/
It’s exceeding our expectations. We knew it would be a high demand product, but our Switch allocations are selling out not in days, but in hours…the demand is so high that consumers have to react quickly to be able to get their hands on them. Right now we’re not seeing sales going down at all, and I would expect that to continue for quite some time.http://nintendoeverything.com/gamestop-switch-exceeding-its-expectations-selling-out-in-hours-strong-sales-to-continue/

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–According to the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States, the Nintendo Switch system was the best-selling video game hardware in the month of April with more than 280,000 units sold. This is the second month in a row that Nintendo Switch has led the pack in video game hardware sales, following a record-breaking launch in March. April sales of Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems (more than 68,000 units sold) combined to make up almost half of all hardware sales across all dedicated video game systems.http://nintendoeverything.com/april-2017-npd-switch-sells-over-280000-units-mario-kart-8-deluxe-more-than-550000-copies/
The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game was the top-selling video game in April with more than 460,000 physical units sold. With digital sales added, the total is more than 550,000 units. Making this number more impressive is the fact that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launched on April 28, which only accounts for two days’ worth of sales in the reporting period, which cut off on April 29.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game for Nintendo Switch continued its legendary run, coming in as the third-highest-selling video game in April. The critically acclaimed open-air adventure will receive even more content with the upcoming launch of two DLC packs in the summer and holiday season of this year. The DLC is now available for pre-purchase via an Expansion Pass. 1-2-Switch and digital-only game Snipperclips – Cut it out, together! also saw strong sales in April.

Around 5.4 million console units have been sold between it’s launch in March and now, and the console has a very high attach rate of 6 to 1 for accessories. The strong demand for the Switch is especially noteworthy for occurring outside the holiday period.
GameStop CFO Rob Lloyd said that it was likely even more Switch units could be sold if the company hadn’t had trouble securing enough consoles. “There is a contest among all the retailers, online and in store, with our good friends at Nintendo.” GameStop Company Chief Tony Bartel added that GameStop wasn’t even close to meeting the demand they received for the Switch.
As Japanese Switch stock has shrunk to the 27,000 range the last few weeks, desperation for the systems has hit crazy levels with people lining up just to get "lottery tickets" given out by stores to have a chance at buying a Nintendo Switch.
Today photographs were taken of people literally lining up around the block to enter a lottery for the mere chance to purchase a Switch.
This first location had a grand total of 37 units to sell.
Switch managed to sell 105,000 units in France at launch. Since then, the console has gone on to sell over 250,000 units.http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-sales-surpass-250000-units-in-france/
Comparing that to Wii U, the older system sold 289,000 units by December 2013 (14 months). Switch did that in just four months.
Total sales of the Nintendo Switch in Japan have surpassed the one million as of June 25, according to Famitsu sales data.http://www.vgchartz.com/article/268565/famitsu-switch-sales-top-1-million-units-in-japan/

Kto miał kupić to kupił.Nadal Switch radzi sobie nieźle w USA.
Zawsze to coś.
Another recent weekend also had thousands of people lining up. But unlike earlier this month in which 3,000 people were fighting for 105 units, there had been slightly more with about 300 – 500 consoles.http://nintendoeverything.com/japanese-news-reporter-visits-48-stores-to-try-and-find-a-switch-walks-away-unsuccessful/

Nintendo also noted in today’s announcement that, when combined with the 3DS family of systems and the Super NES Classic Edition system, Nintendo systems claimed two-thirds of the month’s total video game hardware sales.

Nintendo has a whopping 946 billion Yen in net cash reserves, and is - as we know - currently raking it in thanks to the incredibly successful Switch.
Nintendo's closest rival in the video game sphere is Sony, which came in fourth place on the same list. Sony naturally has other interests outside of gaming, such as consumer electronics and smartphones, which makes Nintendo's achievement even more impressive.

With a March 3rd, 2017 launch, the data on December 10th, 2017 says that it took the Switch 9 months and 7 days to sell 10 million units.https://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2017/12/12/the-nintendo-switch-is-selling-exactly-as-fast-as-sonys-ps4/#30b4c0397b59
In contrast, the PS4, launched on November 15th, 2013, took about 8 months and 29 days to sell 10 million units, almost identical. The difference being that Sony had a full holiday sales window while Nintendo hasn't had that with the Switch yet.
The Wii also took about nine months to sell 10 million units, and that was when it was a worldwide, non-gamer craze unlike anything the industry had seen.
The Xbox One took about a full year to ship 10 million units, not sell-through, and we don’t have the data for those exact figures.
The Wii U, Nintendo’s last console, took 2 years and 7 months to sell 10 million units, and it ended its run at 13.5 million units. It is entirely possible, if not likely, that the Switch could outsell the Wii U in totality in its very first year on the market.
Pewnie dopiero 2019 Nintendo oficjalnie obniży cenę (i to w drugiej połowie roku).

According to the company’s own internal sales figures, since launching about ten months ago, the console has sold over 4.8 million units in the United States. That means it is now the fastest-selling home gaming system of all time in the country. Switch, 3DS and Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition system topped 2.6 million units all together, which accounted for more than half of all hardware sold during the month.
Finally, a number of Switch games finished high on the December sales charts for individual titles Super Mario Odyssey placed at #3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #4, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at #9 and Splatoon 2 at #16. Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon were also at #13 and #14 respectively.
