Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams Director Pleased with Early Wii U Sales
Cytuj
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is still a fresh arrival on the Wii U eShop, with just over 2 weeks’ exposure in Europe and a release only yesterday in North America. But it’s never too early to talk about sales expectations, right?

Adrian Goersch, managing director at developer Black Forest Games, told Beefjack that although Twisted Dreams came out earlier on other platforms, sales are so far “at the same level as on the other consoles.” Considering the game has been in the Top 10 on XBLA and PSN and Top 5 in Europe, this is an encouraging sign for its Wii U performance.

Mega Man X (Capcom, €7.99 / £5.49) — A few months after its arrival delighted Blue Bomber fans in North America, this popular Super NES release finally hits the European Wii U store. This franchise represented quite a departure from the 'Classic' series of games when released, but had such an impact that it spawned plenty of sequels of its own. Don't let any of the iffy later sequels put you off, as this one is the real deal — our Mega Man X review gave it a strong recommendation.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — This still remains, arguably, the biggest oddity of the Zelda franchise — no, we don't count CDi games! With a top-down overworld and side-scrolling action when in dungeons and towns, the leveling-up elements of this release also set it aside from its contemporaries; it can also be teeth-grindingly difficult. It's perhaps the series underdog and may not be for everyone, but we thought it deserved support and praise in our Zelda II: The Adventure of Link review. This is the US version of the game.

Gradius (Konami, €4.99 / £3.49) — This is a name that'll be familiar to gamers of a certain vintage as one of the defining shooters of the 8-bit era. This one is of the sidescrolling variety, and though its age is starting to show is still well worth consideration, as our 3DS Virtual Console Gradius review explains. This is the US version of the game.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Nintendo, €59.99 / £49.99) — Perhaps the earliest mass-market shot across the bows of the Wii U's rivals ahead of a busy Holiday season, this title will arrive alongside a new hardware bundle and a console price cut. Already a wonderful title on the GameCube, this HD re-release includes a range of improvements and adjustments in order to deliver the definitive version. We were certainly impressed with the final results, recommending this as a must-have for those new to the title and well worth consideration for those that adventured through the original; check out our The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD review for full details. Available to download from 4th October.

Just Dance 2014 (Ubisoft, €49.99 / £34.99) — Available from 1st October.

Wii U Virtual Console
Final Fight (Capcom, €7.99 / £5.49) — This is one of the original arcade conversions to the Super NES, and an iconic beat 'em up that's certainly welcome on the latest Virtual Console. We'll seek vengeance on the streets in our upcoming review. This is the US version of the game.

Final Fight 2 (Capcom, €7.99 / £5.49) — This second entry rights some wrongs of the first, including multiple playable characters and two-player co-op, though perhaps disappoints with some gameplay elements. You can see what we thought in our Wii Virtual Console Final Fight 2 review, while we'll take to the streets again to take a fresh look. This is the US version of the game.

Final Fight 3 (Capcom, €7.99 / £5.49) — Rounding off the Super NES trilogy of titles hitting the Wii U VC this week, this one includes more brawling on the streets but also the option of an automatic two player mode where you play with the CPU. By our reckoning this third entry is certainly the best of the group, as explained in our Wii Virtual Console Final Fight 3 review. This is the US version of the game.

GOLF (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — Oddly, this original golf title from the NES doesn't appear to have been released on the Wii Virtual Console, so it makes its — much anticipated? — return on the Wii U Virtual Console. It has two player options and delivers what the title promises: it's golf. We'll hit the Links while wearing some tartan trousers and let you know what we think. This is the US version of the game.

Tennis (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — This is a title that did arrive on the Wii Virtual Console, and like its golfing brethren serves up a simple, uncomplicated 8-bit version of the sport; we'll hit the courts once again, while you can check out our original Wii Virtual Console Tennis review. This is the US version of the game.

Mighty Switch Force! 2 (WayForward, €5.00 / £5.00) — Unlike the revamped Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition, this Wii U release of the 3DS eShop sequel is apparently based directly on the original, retooling the pixel-based visuals for a 16:9 ratio. We gave the eShop version a reasonable recommendation in our Mighty Switch Force! 2 review, even if it didn't quite match our expectations.

Wii U Virtual Console
Donkey Kong 3 (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — The third entry in the original DK series now arrives on the Wii U Virtual Console, adding to its library of NES offerings. This one is quite a departure from its predecessors as you attempt to shoot the big ape with bug spray, which certainly is a change. We'll take another look, but in the meantime you can cast your eyes over our original Wii Virtual Console Donkey Kong 3 review, in which it bugged us rather than made us go ape. This is the US version of the game.

Baseball (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — The NES Sports range continues its route onto the Wii U Virtual Console with this rather popular American sport. You pitch, you bat and you (sort of) field, but we weren't impressed many years ago in our Wii Virtual Console Baseball review. This is the US version of the game.

Pinball (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — It's another one of the earliest NES games, which explains the rather simplistic title. This is a fairly basic game of pinball with a Mario mini-game thrown in, and we gave it a reasonable recommendation in our Wii Virtual Console Pinball review. This is the US version of the game.

Wii U eShop Retail Downloads
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut (Square Enix, €39.99 / £29.99) — Arrives on Wii U alongside other systems as an improved version of a game a little over two years old; it faces a hard time winning attention alongside so many other major releases this season.

Just Dance Kids 2014 (Ubisoft, €39.99 / £29.99) — It's dancing with songs for kids. Yep, that sums it up.

Super Castlevania IV (Konami, €7.99 / £5.49) — Now this is a perfect Halloween game, and some would argue — against some fierce opposition — that it's the peak of the Castlevania franchise. This Super NES title is held in particularly high esteem for good reason, and is sure to tempt some downloads on the spookiest night of the year. Toki Tori (Two Tribes, €1.99 / £1.79, will be €3.99 / £3.59 from 6th December) — The first of three Two Tribes Classics coming to the Wii U eShop, this is the HD offering (with additional content) that's based on the PC release. Unlike its sequel, this title focuses on single screen fixed puzzles, some of which are exceptionally fiendish in later stages. We'll have a review for you when it launches, and until then you can check out our Toki Tori WiiWare review and our hands on impressions of the new release.

Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games
(Nintendo, €49.99 / £39.99) — The popular series returns as a Wii U exclusive, incorporating the GamePad and MotionPlus controls into the standard fare that the series offers. In some senses this title is a success, but doesn't hit all of its marks or reach its potential, as we explained in our Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games review. Available from 8th November.

Batman: Arkham Origins (WB Games, €59.99 / £49.99) — Arriving late (in Europe) and at a premium price, this is the latest in the popular Rocksteady revival of the Dark Knight, though this was developed in-house by WB Games. The Wii U version lacks the new online multiplayer mode, while critical opinion has been mixed. We're current 'being Batman' to swoop in with a review, soon.

Conclusion

If you still haven't played Toki Tori, the Wii U eShop version of the game gives you some serious bang for your buck. It includes all but one of the PC version's features, making it the second most complete version out there, and comes at an extremely affordable price to boot.

It's slightly harder to recommend for those who've already played the WiiWare version, or those who were really hoping to make some levels themselves, but we would suggest that it's an enjoyable puzzle option with an attractive initial price and, even when that's expired, is still good value.

Coaster Crazy Deluxe
(Frontier, €6.70 / £5.99) — Frontier was last seen on Nintendo download platforms with the excellent WiiWare titles LostWinds and LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias, and now makes its Wii U eShop debut with this rollercoaster design game. It has some wacky touches, such as the task to keep the "Crazies" happy, while also throwing in online leaderboards and challenges. We'll eat too many sugary snacks and hit the theme park for our upcoming review.

Mysterious Cities of Gold: Secret Paths (Ynnis Interactive, €14.99 / £13.49) — Based on a Japanese / French animated series with a loyal following, this project ran a successful crowdfunding campaign to secure English localisation. An adventure in which you control up to three characters, this aims to suit various gaming ages while offering free DLC to expand the story alongside the TV show. We'll try to find our way to a review, soon.

EDGE (Two Tribes, €1.99 / £1.79 until 2nd January 2014, then €3.99 / £3.59) — Originally released on smartphones and PC, this is the second "Two Tribes Classic" to arrive on the Wii U eShop, and in this case the game is making its Nintendo début. It's a stylish retro-infused puzzle platformer in which you manoeuvre a cube through tricky environments. We'll check it out for review, while in the meantime you can learn more from our early access hands-on impressions of EDGE.

Brawl Brothers
(HAMSTER, €7.99 / £5.49) — The 16-bit era had its share of excellent beat 'em ups, and this one was another contender for the crown. We felt some over-long stage design let this one down — along with other minor annoyances — in our Wii Virtual Console Brawl Brothers review; we'll get ready for action for an updated review, soon.

It's another enjoyable entry in the franchise despite some hiccups, and you can see all of the detail in our Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag review.

EDGE Review
Cytuj
Conclusion

As a simple gaming experience, EDGE comes close to providing the perfect budget download experience. There are presentation values both simple and delightful, and the basic premise of navigating a cube through a tough level is embellished with clever design. Perhaps the difficulty will drive some away, while an addition of camera control — even in a limited capacity — would have been welcome; yet this is a title that gets so much right. If you haven't owned EDGE on another system or — alternatively — only own it on a touch device, then this is a must-buy.

Super Mario 3D World (Nintendo, €59.99 / £49.99) — With each passing reveal and trailer in recent weeks the hype has increased for this latest 3D Mario title; it's bursting with creative level design, new power-ups, fun mechanics and the best multiplayer yet seen in a Mario platformer. It's been critically acclaimed and could be the definitive Wii U title of 2013 — we awarded 10/10 in our Super Mario 3D World review. Available from 29th November.

Wii U Virtual Console

Uncharted Waters: New Horizons (Tecmo Koei Games, €7.99 / £5.49) — This title blends RPG elements with intricate strategy and does so with great skill. It has a solid storyline and micromanagement for days, earning plenty of praise in our Uncharted Waters: New Horizons review. This is the US version of the game.

Scribblenauts Unlimited (Nintendo, €49.99 / £39.99) — This was a Wii U launch title in North America but inexplicable got with drawn from release in Europe moments before it was due (it even appeared briefly in the eShop). We never had a proper explanation for that occurrence, but it finally arrives in the region — we gave it a strong recommendation in our Scribblenauts Unlimited review. Available from 6th December.

Pikmin 3 All-New Mission Stages 12-15 x 2 (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49) — A pack of additional stages for Pikmin 3 Mission mode. Four stages each for "Collect Treasure!" and "Battle Enemies!" with four completely new maps, from a sandy beach to a strange factory. Additional stages can be played in the order of your choice. RUSH (Two Tribes, €1.99 / £1.79) — The final part of the Two Tribes Classics trilogy, the first iteration of this title arrived on WiiWare in 2009 as Rubik's Puzzle Galaxy: RUSH, though this Wii U version will be based on the subsequent PC / Mac title. We'll have a review for you on launch day to let you know whether this rounds off the excellent classics series in style.

Wii Fit U Quick Check (Nintendo Free) — This is not required if you have the full download version of Wii Fit U. If you have the physical retail version of Wii Fit U, Wii Fit U Quick Check lets you easily transfer Fit Meter data, do the Body Test, and check your graphs without using the Wii Fit U disc.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Nintendo, €7.99 / £5.49) — This classic Super NES adventure could be the perfect preparation before unwrapping The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds as a present; this title would undoubtedly come top in a number of personal Zelda game lists here at Nintendo Life, so its arrival on the latest Virtual Console is certainly welcome. You already know that it's a 16-bit classic, but if you want to know more then check out our Wii Virtual Console The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past review. This is the European version of the game.

Wii Party U (Nintendo, €44.99 / £34.99) — The eShop absence of this game to date can perhaps be attributed to an eagerness to sell physical retail copies (which include a Wii Remote Plus). In any case, it finally arrives on the platform, offering up plenty of fun minigames to play with others — check out our Wii Party U review for the full lowdown.

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW (D3Publisher, €44.99 / £36.99) — This dungeon crawler underwhelmed on its way to a 5/10 in our review.

Knytt Underground (Ripstone, €8.99 / £7.99) — The work of well-known Indie developer Nifflas, this title makes the jump from various other platforms onto the Wii U. Perhaps unlike any other download game on the system to date, it looks set to be an atmospheric experience that requires exploration and curiosity, as well as manipulation of various abilities — including a ball form. This also includes extra 'Hype Infinity' content that was previously PC-only; until our review is ready you can check out our extended developer interview in part one and part two.

RUSH Review
Cytuj
Conclusion

RUSH is a more than welcome addition to the Wii U eShop, as it delivers straight-out puzzle challenges with few needless embellishments, all at a budget price. It's intuitive on the GamePad touch screen — though the lack of a physical button control scheme is a pity — and very quickly ramps up the challenge. Later levels will take a lot of brain work and time to beat, with some hint tools there to help; the complexity of the stage shapes pose the greatest challenge. It delivers with a little panache and is perfectly suited to the Brain Training crowd, in particular, even if these cubes aren't as multi-sided as in another Two Tribes Classic.

Swoją drogą Two Tribes ma niedługo zaprezentować nowe IP.

Review: NES Remix
Cytuj
Conclusion

It would be simple to write off NES Remix as something only die-hard retro gamers would enjoy, but developer indies zero is really on to something here — the 200+ challenges are short enough to be interesting and fun to replay, but not long enough to outstay their welcome. The developer has even somehow managed to make challenges based on games like Urban Champion and Baseball fun to play, which is an achievement in itself. If you're the type who likes to relentlessly collect stuff, the stars and stamps will also keep you entertained for quite a while.

Perhaps if this becomes a success, we could see a sequel with more NES games, or even SNES games? One can only hope — but for the time being, this totally unexpected surprise ranks as one of the Wii U eShop's most engaging and downright enjoyable downloadable titles.

Fajny, przyjemny, płynny i grywalny szuterek w stylu Stardusta.

CastleStorm (Zen Studios, €9.99 / £7.99) — Arriving on the Wii U eShop after a bit of a wait, this is a promising hybrid of tower defence and physics-based destruction, the premise of which seems perfectly suited to the Wii U and its GamePad. There'll be touch screen controls, local multiplayer with one player exclusively using the GamePad's screen, as well as a campaign on online multiplayer to check out. We'll get destructive to bring you our review soon.

It took some time but the iconic NES platformer is finally arriving, a game that's undoubtedly one of the finest platformers ever created and a stand-out in the entire 8-bit library. We'll have an updated look, but until then you can go all retro and check out our Wii Virtual Console Super Mario Bros. 3 review. This is the U.S. version of the game, so will run at 60Hz.

Review: Dr. Luigi
Cytuj
Conclusion

Dr. Luigi is a fun, if overly familiar puzzle game that will satisfy anyone who knows what they're getting when they download it from the eShop. While we would have liked a little more variety and some more twists for Luigi's puzzle début on Wii U, Dr. Luigi is a good way to end the Year of the Tall Green Brother. It's a simple, clear experience with strong gameplay that reminds us why we love the Mario Bros. in the first place.

Dr. Luigi (Nintendo, €14.99 / £13.49) — Announced in Nintendo Direct late 2013, this Luigi-themed new version of the iconic Dr. Mario franchise includes new modes as well as online multiplayer and leaderboards. It delivers another solid Dr. title in the puzzle series, which we gave a solid recommendation in our Dr. Luigi review. Available from 15th January.

F1 Race Stars: Powered Up Edition (Codemasters, €24.99 / £19.99) — This was originally set to be an early retail release on Wii U, before eventually re-emerging as an eShop-only title due late last year. It now arrives on the grid a little later than expected and promises a light-hearted kart-racing take on the world's richest motor-sport event — the spiel for this promises four extra tracks and bonus accessory packs for this Wii U version. We'll get into gear and bring you a review.

Wii U Virtual Console

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Konami, €7.99 / £5.49) — When you mention Goemon to fans of retro games, especially Konami enthusiasts, you're likely to prompt a wave of nostalgia. This Super NES title is certainly well loved, an action game full of creativity that can also be enjoyed in co-op; we gave this a strong recommendation in our recent The Legend of the Mystical Ninja review. This is the European version of the game.

Unepic (EnjoyUp Games, €9.99 / £8.99) — The work of Barcelona-based Francisco Téllez de Meneses, this is a dungeon-filled 2D RPG that delivers a great deal of depth with a high number of rooms, potions, weapons and more to explore; it also uses the GamePad for off-TV or as a resource to access items. We declared that it wasn't ungood and gave it a strong recommendation in our Unepic review.

Wii U Virtual Console

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (Nintendo, €4.99 / £3.49) — As the name suggests, this was initially a sequel that was Japan-only on the NES, as Western gamers received an entirely different Super Mario Bros. 2. This follows the style of the original in the series and contains a series of particularly difficult stages, a real test for platforming veterans. If you're up for the challenge then this is well worth a punt, as we explained in our Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (3DS eShop) review. This is the US version of the game.

Review: Cocoto Magic Circus 2
Cytuj
Conclusion

Cocoto Magic Circus 2 is a solid gallery shooter for young gamers that includes excellent, charming presentation values. The GamePad shooting controls are entertaining but arguably less efficient than the Wii Remote pointer, and this is a enjoyable experience in single player or with others. Ultimately, once the initial buzz wears off it runs out of ideas quickly, which makes its launch price tag questionable. For fans of the franchise or younger gamers looking for a few hours of high quality — albeit simplistic — fun, it's certainly worth some consideration.

With much to explore and so many ways of storming the castle’s inhabitants, Unepic is a fun and well-designed challenge for those who enjoy platformers and yon hefty olde RPG feel. NES Remix 2 Will Bring Even More 8-Bit Favourites To Your Wii U

Cytuj
During tonight's Nintendo Direct broadcast it was revealed that NES Remix 2 will be released on the Wii U eShop on 25th April in both Europe and North America; the price for North America will be $14.99, with none given yet for Europe.

This time the mini-games will revolve around these NES classics:

    Ice Hockey
    Wario's Woods
    Zelda II
    Super Mario Bros 2
    Dr Mario
    Kirby's Adventure
    Super Mario Bros 3
    Kid Icarus
    Punch-Out!!
    Metroid
    Mario Open Golf
Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels

Dare we say it, the list of games appearing in this edition is even more tantalising than the first instalment. This promises to offer even more addictive 8-bit antics.

As if all this wasn't enough, NES Remix 2 also comes complete with a Super Luigi Bros. game. It will basically be the entire Super Mario Bros. title but played as Luigi in reverse. Replaying this classic game running from right to left should certainly mix things up, and in addition to this Luigi's high jump is also included; that might compensate somewhat for your disorientation.
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/02/nes_remix_2_will_bring_even_more_8_bit_favourites_to_your_wii_u

Game Boy Advance Titles To Hit Wii U Virtual Console From April Onwards

Cytuj
Whether it's the desired platform for the portable's games or not, Nintendo today used its latest Direct broadcast to provide an update on progress bringing Game Boy Advance titles to the Wii U Virtual Console; after a fairly lengthy delay, we know they'll start to arrive in April.

While no pricing details or a firm release date beyond the month were given, Satoru Iwata showed three games that will be the first to arrive on the service, and they're all top-notch.

    Metroid Fusion
    Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island

Those that are 3DS Ambassadors from Summer 2011 will have already enjoyed Metroid Fusion and the Yoshi's Island port on the handheld, but Superstar Saga is a hugely popular — and rightfully so — title that'll be a more than welcome arrival. It'll also be interesting to see how well these GBA titles stack up on the Wii U; we suspect that the GamePad screen will give a more pleasing visual performance than a full size HD TV.

KnapNok and Nifflas reveal Affordable Space Adventures for Wii U

Cytuj
KnapNok Games (Spin the Bottle: Bumpie’s Party) and Nifflas (Knytt Underground) have revealed their collaboration title for the Wii U eShop. Here’s what we know thus far, courtesy of a Gamasutra interview with Nicklas ‘Nifflas’ Nygren and KnapNok’s Dajana Dimovska and Lau Korsgaard:

- Uses the GamePad extensively
- Trying to make “an atmospheric, low-key, very suspenseful game that gets the players excited but a bit scared at the same time, and to have a game where a complex configurable vehicle is fun to figure out and control.”
- Technical stealth puzzles that you don’t see in most games
- Control a lot of the ship with the GamePad touch screen
- Interface will communicate the personality of the spaceship
- Scan enemies and configure the ship to avoid detection
- Ship can overheat
- Action never pauses when the player stares at the second screen
- Will need to pay a lot of attention to the UI
- Get lots of info from it about dangers
- “There will be some shortcuts, but the aim isn’t to not have to look at the UI.”
- “We aim to design puzzles that can be executed elegantly by only changing the ship’s configuration at safe locations with no time pressure.”
- “In occasions where actions need to be made while flying, the player should never have to jump between two different sub-menus.”
- Single-player and local multiplayer

- On using the Wii U hardware:

Lau: This is mostly the GamePad we are talking about here. I think we have seen very few games, also from Nintendo themselves, that actually uses the GamePad in a meaningful way. Hopefully we can show that the Wii U is great, and it can give you experiences you can’t get anywhere else as long as developers dare to design something exclusive for the hardware.

- Nifflas and KnapNok on making the game for Wii U:

Nifflas: I have no idea :) I just want to make a cool game for it!

Lau: Ha ha, yeah, if we wanted to earn money I guess we shouldn’t be in games. It is really hard to make any sensible business rationales in this market. Yes, there are not that many Wii U consoles out there, but does it matter if there are 5 or 10 million units sold when we just need to sell some 10-20-30 thousand copies to be happy? As long as we keep our cost low, I think it is much more important to work on a platform that excites us than to work on the stuff that everybody else is doing.

- Playable at the GDC Play booth PL406 March 19th to 21st and at The Media Indie Exchange March 17th in San Francisco

You can find a whole lot more over on Gamasutra.

MixedBag Confirms forma.8 for the Wii U eShop

Cytuj
Earlier this week we reported that Italian developer MixedBag was teasing a Wii U project, and the studio has now confirmed that it's bringing one of its two current projects — forma.8 — to the eShop; it's also coming to Vita, PS4, iOS, PC, Mac and Linux.

It's yet more welcome news for the home console's download store, with the developer reserving special praise for Unity, Nintendo and Sony for their support. Over two years in the making, forma.8 gives its take on that good-old Metroidvania setup, as you control an exploration probe that becomes lost on an alien planet. You start with no powers, and this title aims to use the environments and sound to carry the narrative.

Floating gracefully in mid air, with a control system that aims to give the player a true sense of flying, our little hero forma.8 starts with no powers, no weapons and no hints of what to do and where to go: it’s up to the player to explore the planet, deal with its often hostile inhabitants, and slowly uncover the story.
There’s no verbal communication in the game, everything is conveyed to the player only with images and sounds.

This title is due to arrive this year, and will also be appearing in the 'Leftfield Collection' at EGX Rezzed in Birmingham from March 28th-30th.

Way back in April last year EnjoyUp Games showed Abyss running on the Wii U, leading to thoughts of a sequel or HD remake of the well-regarded DSiWare title. The latter has now been confirmed, with the studio confirming to us that it's aiming for a release in April or May, while there'll be a budget price — $1.99 in North America, for example.

The storyline remains the same — you're piloting the Nep2no underwater in 3024 to gather 'Gaia' energy stones. The press release does outline some new features for this Wii U version, however.

12 Original missions plus 8 in Dark mode.
        Competitive two-player mode.
New Graphic Effects and remixed Music.
        Off-TV Mode.

SNES Classic Super Mario Kart Is Racing To The Wii U Virtual Console This Month
Cytuj
Nintendo UK has announced that Super Mario Kart will be hitting the European Wii U Virtual Console later this month — March 27th, to be precise.

What's more, as part of a special promotion in the run up to the release of Mario Kart 8, if you download Super Mario Kart you will receive a £5.49 discount on the price of the Wii U sequel, which is due to hit Europe on May 30th. You'll have until June 30th to take advantage of the offer, and the usual caveats apply — you'll only get the discount if you purchase the digital version of the game via the Wii U eShop, and both purchases must be made on the same Wii U system.

O, znakomicie.

Kody mam z Nintendo Network Premium.

This week — the 4th to the 11th, to be precise — you'll be able to pick up Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Zelda: Wind Waker HD for £25.99 and £32.99 respectively. The original Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link will also see 30 percent price reductions on both consoles.

From the 11th to the 18th, the Game Boy Color titles Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Zelda: Oracle of Seasons will be reduced to £3.59 on the 3DS eShop. On the Wii U eShop, you'll be able to get Zelda: A Link to the Past and Zelda: Minish Cap for 30 percent less than normal — £3.43 and £4.49 respectively.

In the final week of the campaign — 19th to the 26th September — Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will see 23 percent slashed from its RRP, making it a very reasonable £30.99.

To cap it all off, if you download any of the above titles during the promotional period you'll be entitled to a 10 percent discount on Hyrule Warriors itself — when purchased from the Wii U eShop, of course — making it just £35.99. This discount only applies between the 19th and the 26th.

Art of Balance on Wii U is definitely the best version of the Shin’en classic by far. The variety of control options, modes, and puzzles is a true delight, lasting a good number of hours. While it feels a bit unfair at times, the true quality of the overall experience still shines through constantly.

Summary

Pros

    Excellent controls
    Lots of content
    Simple yet clever mechanics
    Variety of modes

Cons

    Can be a bit unfair

Jest też wreszcie recka Art of Balance na nintendolife:

Conclusion

This instalment in the Art of Balance series is easily the best to date and – despite some minor shortcomings – should be on everybody’s Wii U. The single player is a solid puzzle endeavour that would be enough in itself for this title, but Tower Tumble makes this game one of the best multiplayer experiences on the eShop by a long chalk. If you’ve got a Mario Party-like taste for multiplayer or just want to see countless friends suffer, you should check this out immediately.

Review: Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones
Cytuj
Conclusion

Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones is a gem from Curve Studios, and one of the very best download games on the Wii U. The overworld Metroidvania aspect isn't always on the money, but puzzle Test Chamber design and overall gameplay are of the highest class. On top of that there's a terrific Level Editor tool, a potentially endless source of levels, and co-op GamePad play that provides one of the most compelling demonstrations yet of the merits of asynchronous multiplayer. That latter is important to give some hope to less skilled players, too, as this is also one of the most fiendish titles on Wii U, constantly challenging your reactions and puzzle-solving abilities. If you're up for the challenge, then this is a must-buy on the eShop.

Tengami (Nyamyam, €7.99 / £6.99) — A console exclusive on Wii U following its iOS release, this is a rather relaxing yet immersive experience that creates a Japanese tale through a virtual pop-up book; you turn pages while folding and manipulating paper to solve puzzles. This boasts a unique art style and music by David Wise, and we'll let you know what we think in our upcoming review.

Paper Monsters Recut (Mobot Studios, €6.49 / £5.49) — Continuing the paper theme, this is a platformer that originated on smart devices but has graduated to the Wii U with a number of improvements and enhancements. It's a charming and entertaining platformer, earning a strong recommendation in our Paper Monsters Recut review.

Wii U Virtual Console

Castlevania: Dracula X (Konami, €7.99 / £5.49) — This is the SNES port of the PC Engine's Castlevania: Rondo of Blood; this is the first arrival of this version on the Virtual Console in Europe. It doesn't stand up to many of its series contemporaries, unfortuately, as we explain in our Castlevania: Dracula X review.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) — This sequel to the much-loved predecessor tackles the same world and events and its predecessor from new perspectives; this is another exciting Game Boy Advance arrival on Wii U. The continuation of this series on the system will no doubt please fans, and those that have completed the first game can transfer their data to this entry to unlock items and more; we'll get cracking on a review.

Wii U Retail Download

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (WB Games, €49.99 / £44.99) — The LEGO series remains hugely popular while the Batman series, arguably, represents the best of the franchise. Thies third entry heads into outer space and serves up a mind-boggling number of characters, promising one of the most polished and expansive experiences we've seen in the blocky world. We'll work on a review but, in the meantime, you can see what we thought in our LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham preview. Available from 14th November.

Wii U DLC

Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 1 (Nintendo, £7.00 / €7.99 or £11.00 / €11.99 for the DLC bundle) — Not actually listed in Nintendo's press release, but confirmed nevertheless for this week's update, this is the first of two DLC packs coming to Nintendo's iconic racing series. It introduces new franchises in exciting new tracks, vehicles and Link as a character; we spoke highly of the content on offer in our The Legend of Zelda x Mario Kart 8 preview.

Review: Tengami
Cytuj
Conclusion

Tengami is a masterfully designed game that delivers a level of quality that few other Wii U eShop games are able to match. It’s a wonderful audiovisual experience that assaults the senses, and one that’s enhanced further as a result of its intuitive user interface and touch control input. The painstaking effort that has gone into crafting such a unique, complex and beautiful art style inspired by pop-up books is staggering, and this feature alone makes Tengami a game that even the slightly curious should look into.

It’s a short game, and while that may deliberately be the case in order to make it a more relaxing and laid-back experience, it’s not the sort of game you will frequently play through over and over again. When you factor in the game’s asking price — and the fact that you can get more or less the exact same experience for a fair bit less on mobile devices — Tengami on Wii U may not look like it offers great value for money. Price aside, this is definitely a game you should experience in some form or another, even if the only way for you to play it is on Nintendo’s home system.

Rock Zombie (EnjoyUp Games, €6.99 / £6.29) — An experience that harks back to some sillier games of generations passed, this is a campy beat 'em up in which you tackle zombies as a rock band, which the game is at pains to emphasize is an all-female band. It's not a classic, but we couldn't help but be a little charmed in our Rock Zombie review.

Wii U Virtual Console

Wild Guns (Natsume, €7.99 / £5.49) — A 16-bit gallery shooter set in a Steampunk Wild West, which is a description that will already have some reaching for their credit card. In our view this is a bit of an under-appreciated classic, as a title that was top of class in its era and allows the mix of manic dodging with gallery shooting to also be enjoyed in co-op. We were full of praise for this in our Wild Guns review. This is the US version of the game.

Natsume Championship Wrestling (Natsume, €7.99 / £5.49) — Completing a Natsume double header on the Wii U Virtual Console this week, here we have a SNES era wrestling game that also supports four player local matches. There are 12 different fighters, and we felt this put up a good fight as we awarded 7/10 in our Wii Virtual Console review; we'll grapple with it once again. This is the US version of the game.

Wii U Retail Downloads

Watch Dogs (Ubisoft, €59.99 / £49.99) — The Wii U iteration of this open-world title has been delayed to such an extent that it'll likely arrive with little fanfare on the system, especially as this is the year's busiest period of game releases. Some have no doubt been waiting, however, and will hope that the action and hacking shenanigans come across well on Nintendo's console; we hope it's not a dog's dinner of a port.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Sega, €49.99 / £39.99) — This spin-off universe of Sonic caused a stir earlier in the year, with this Wii U entry being joined by a 3DS game, TV series and merchandise. This adventure platformer wasn't issued pre-release for review and has been attracting some scathing critiques from consumers online, but we'll take a look and figure out whether it's boom or bust for the hedgehog's latest release. Available from 21st November.

Wii U DLC

Two Watch Dogs DLC packs will be available on day one:

Conspiracy (Ubisoft, €4.99 / £3.99) — People aren't always what they seem. In this case, they're cyborgs from space. Don't believe me? Try plugging in the Conspiracy! Digital Trip and we'll talk after. You've got a specific lens to see their real faces. Find them, identify them, and kill them.

Access Granted (Ubisoft, €6.99 / £5.49) — Extend your hacking abilities in 3 new missions. Unlock 6 additional skins and access new powerful perks to increase your control over Chicago.

Cake Ninja 3: The Legend Continues (Cypronia, €4.99 / £4.49) — There have been three previous entries in this franchise on DSiWare, including a Christmas special, and now it makes the move over to the Wii U. We've been scathing of the lack of content and quality in those entries, and based on the description there doesn't appear to be more content here beyond the core mode of slashing cake to pieces with the stylus. We'll see if this is a tasty treat or a cream cake that's been left out in the sun for too long.

Wii U Virtual Console

Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge (Arc System Works, €4.99 / £3.49) — A slightly wacky mix of River City Ransom and Track & Field, you can tackle events like swimming or the 400m hurdles with bizarre twists. While the concept is fun the execution falls down, as we explained in our 3DS Virtual Console Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge review. This is the US version of the game.

S.C.A.T. (Natsume, €4.99 / £3.49) — Not typically the kind of game associated with Natsume, but this is a fast-paced and enjoyable shoot 'em up, with various weapon power-ups and the ability to adjust the aim of the turrets. It's a fun 8-bit title — with co-op — in which you shoot everything in sight, which we rather enjoyed in our S.C.A.T. review. This is the US version of the game.

Shadow of the Ninja (Natsume, €4.99 / £3.49) — Another Natsume arrival, this came rather late in the NES life-cycle; its sidescrolling ninja-action certainly brings to mind other iconic titles such as those in the Ninja Gaiden franchise. We felt this was rather run-of-the-mill in our Wii Virtual Console Shadow of the Ninja review, though still gave it a decent recommendation. We'll take it out for another battle. This is the US version of the game.

99Moves (EnjoyUp Games, €2.49 / £2.29) — Another EnjoyUp Games title to make the transition from portable to home console, this arcade-like experience tasks you with getting through tricky stages with as few moves as possible. We weren't convinced that this one finds the right balance between difficulty and cheapness in our DSiWare review, but will see if this new version can persuade us otherwise.

Wii U Virtual Console

Mighty Final Fight (Capcom, €4.99 / £3.49) — A rather cute but rock-hard arcade beat 'em up spin-off that graced the NES, this applied a quirky art-style to familiar Final Fight mechanics. It's certainly fun for those that fancy a offbeat challenge, as we explain in our Mighty Final Fight review. This is the US version of the game.

Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight (Capcom, €4.99 / £3.49) — An oddity in the Street Fighter franchise, as it's absolutely nothing like its 2D fighting siblings. It is 2D, but aside from that this NES title is a mind-numbingly tough action platformer spin-off with a sci-fi storyline — you can see what we think of it in our Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight review. This is the US version of the game.
