No właśnie.
- When playing in multiplayer, Donkey Kong will be automatically granted to a buddy of the player’s choicehttp://nintendoeverything.com/donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-details-2/
- This is instead of requiring them to find one in the level
- Control individual characters on-screen at the same time
- If one player dies, the other player can continue on
- Players have a set number of lives they can use
- Rescue downed players by breaking them out of a barrel
- Dixie moves more gracefully than Donkey/Diddy
- Dixie can move pirouettes across the stage or using her ponytail to helicopter over enemies
- Shake the Wiimote to have Dixie use her hair to slap the ground and shake things up
- This is unlike Donkey Kong, who pummels with his fists
- While on Donkey Kong’s back, Dixie can fire attacks at enemies with bubblegum gun
- Similar to Diddy Kong’s peanut popguns
- When Donkey Kong tumbles over the edge, Dixie will go down with him
- This takes two lives instead of one
- Some stages have players needing to be mindful of their surroundings and help your partner clear a path
- One level with fiery hazards has you pulling eggplant-like fruits filled with water and hurling them onto blazing bushes and enemies
- Minecart levels coming back
- In multiplayer while playing minecart levels, Dixie can ride on Donkey Kong’s back and assume a passive role, or jump in alongside him and duck to avoid damage
- Boss battle: fight against a Viking hat adorned seal that slides from one side of the stage to the other
- Time your attacks and work with your friend to more easily defeat the boss by landing jumps on his back
This month’s issue of Game Informer contains a feature on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. We’ve rounded up details from the magazine’s report below.http://nintendoeverything.com/donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-details-3/#more-144359
- Snowmads are made up of penguins, owls, rabbits, sea lions, and walruses
- Diddy Kong’s cartwheel attack useful for close attacks
- Use Kong Pow with Diddy to turn all enemies on the screen into extra balloons
- As previously mentioned, Dixie’s Kong Pow turns onscreen enemies into gold hearts
- Dixie’s ponytail is like a propeller underwater for extra speed
- Enemies will get tougher as you progress
- Tucks (penguin-like enemies) start out with Donkey Kong being able to take them out by jumping on their heads or rolling into them
- Later, they’ll have spears and helmets at their disposal, so you can only attack them from behind
- Tucks will then come with double-sided spears and spiked helmets, so they must be stunned first before you can attack
- 6 islands
- 6-7 levels per island
- Boss stage and a bonus level as well
- Bonus level unlocks after collecting all KONG letters in each level
- World 1: Lost Mangroves (rainforest, vine grabbing, zip-lining)
- World 2: Autumn Heights (Bavarian-like mountain, mine carts, hot-air balloons, giant owls, jagged cliff faces)
- World 3: Bright Savannah (tall grass, orange/brown colors, like an African safari, dodge brush fire and penguins with spears)
- World 4: Sea Breeze Cove (blue harbors, sandy inlets, lots of swimming, dodge electric seaweed and manage air supply)
- World 5: Juicy Jungle (tropical forest that produces a rare fruit, home to an elaborate processing plant, jump off jellies to reach new heights)
- World 6: DK Island (Donkey Kong’s tree house has been frosted over, has homages to levels from Donkey Kong Country Returns)
- Will always control Donkey Kong in single-player
- Side characters add to Donkey Kong’s abilities
- Subtle differences between the side characters
- Can switch between side characters by breaking barrels in the levels
- Icons on the barrels rotate slowly so that you can pick your partner
- Offers challenging gameplay
- ONM estimates that most levels will take about 10 minutes to complete on your first attempthttp://nintendoeverything.com/tons-of-donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-details-upload-timesreplays-more/
- 3-3 Frantic Field: set against a hurricane, with small tornadoes, and lightning as obstacles; eventually you reach the eye of the storm
- Next stage takes place in a forest, with sections on fire due to the previous levels lightning
- Need to use watery fruit to put out vine fires in order to progress
- Game includes tag barrels ala Donkey Kong 64, to switch between Kongs (could just be DK barrels)
- Multiple routes in the various levels
- 3 secret levels per world confirmed
- Time Attack returns
- In Time Attack, you can choose which character’s DK barrels will appear
- Upload times and full replays to show friends, and to help other players improve their own times
- There seems to be more emphasis on the background, which is constantly moving, which makes the world feel alive, and sometimes provides hints to what you’re going to encounter next
- When asked if there was anything the felt was missing from the game, Kensuke Tanabe said that he wishes they could have done more with the animal buddies
- Tanabe also mentions that there is something from A Link to the Past that he wanted to do, couldn’t, and used it in Link’s Awakening instead (ending of LA when the egg opens)
- Retro president’s favorite levels: 6-6 Cliffside Slide, “like jumping right into the middle of an action movie”, it’s a silhouette level. 4-4 Irate Eight, and underwater level which sounds like the giant octopus from DKCR is back. 3-3 Frantic Fields, which is challenging, but with a bit of comedy.
Tanabe mentions that World 4 is made of only underwater levels.
- Kelbaugh also mentions that he likes 4-4, and 3-6 Cannon Canyon, because of the dynamic 3D camera movement
- Animation quality has improved over Returns
- With David Wise, Kenji Yamamoto, and Scott Petersen, they have an amazing soundtrack, and special effects effort
- Tanabe was surprised that so few people in DKCR didn’t want to use the Super Guide once it appeared. He said that the difficulty of Tropical Freeze hasn’t been lowered, but that they have added some features that will give casual players an easier time.
- Difficulty hasn’t been lowered, but the new items, and Kong POW allow you to change the difficulty of the levels somewhat
- Miyamoto told Retro, when first working on DKCR: “This is my baby. Don’t mess it up.”
- Kelbaugh and Tanabe both worked on DKC, with Tanabe on the Japanese localisation, but never met.
Ten years later Tanabe met Kelbaugh, when he became president of Retro. He saw that Kelbaugh had a DKC jacket, and they learned that they both worked on DKC.
- A few years after that they both started on DKCR, Michael gave DKCR the codename F8 – fate.
- Retro was working on Mario Kart 7, and TF at the same time
- Tanabe, and his team at SPD is Retro’s primary contact at Nintendo, but the games are a collaborative effort throughout Nintendo
- If they found themselves on Kong Island Kelbaugh would team up with Diddy, and Tanabe with Donkey Kong, so that he could be carried around
- Game has a lot of secretshttp://nintendoeverything.com/donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-details-5/
- Puzzle pieces, collectible letters, bonus rooms, concealed coins, alternate exits, and scores of bananas
- One secret: tucked away rendering of Samus Aran’s Gunship
- Familiar Donkey Kong Country melodies
- Tropical Freeze’s level designers creatively integrate the artistic aesthetic into the exploratory mechanics
- Every theme is new and originally composed
- Buy extra lives, items, sidekicks, and the assistance of Squawks the Parrot in Funky Kong’s chain of Fly and Buy stores
- Rambi the Rhino returns in select levels
- Enguarde the Swordfish is nowhere to be found
- New zipline stages
- One boss battle: simple timing-based fight against a giant anthropomorphic viking seal sliding on his belly along a half-pipe
- Another boss: sorcerous owl, has seven unique attacks
- Chase the owl through three arenas
- Post-game Hard Mode confirmed
- Time Attack: speedrun stage replay variant
- Post best time for each Time Attack challenge to online leaderboards
- Compare scores with friends and the community
- Leaderboards will also keep track of which sidekicks are used to help complete these stages
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will take up 11.4GB of space, according to the page. The Wiimote and nunchuck, Wiimote, GamePad, and Wii U Pro Controller are all supported.http://nintendoeverything.com/more-donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-footage-file-size-more/
Seems like generic worlds, ice, beach, jungle but “the variety is amazing”http://nintendoeverything.com/game-informer-review-scores-march-2014-donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze/
Ride minecarts through saw mills, dash through a forest with a raging fire, etc.
Great difficulty balance, bonus stages are a bit ridiculous in difficulty though that is expected.
Water levels return, are very fun, better to control with analog stick than d-pad. For some reason you have to access the menu to pick one or the other.
Dixie and Cranky add new moves that work best to reach certain collectibles or specific platforming challenges. Rotating barrels allow you to select the best Kong for the job.
“Local Co-op is as much a mixed bag as the first installment.”
6 worlds instead of 8 in the last game. But each level is larger. Reviewer says it rather have a smaller collection of the best levels Retro can make than a more bloated game with less quality levels and that is exactly what this game does.
even the visuals fail to make an impact. They're nice enough, but like the level design, the environments are mostly bland.

Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong and Cranky Kong return for the franchise’s debut on Nintendo Switch. This title includes all the fun and challenge of the original game, plus a new beginner-friendly mode that lets players enjoy this critically acclaimed adventure as groovy surfing simian Funky Kong. Funky Kong can double jump, hover, perform infinite rolls and even perform infinite underwater corkscrews. Thanks to his sturdy surfboard, even spikes can’t slow him down. The game launches for Nintendo Switch on May 4.http://nintendoeverything.com/donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-coming-to-switch/
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze ran at 720p on Wii U. When docked on Switch, it increases to 1080p. Digital Foundry estimates the portable resolution to be roughly 648p.https://nintendoeverything.com/donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-switch-vs-wii-u-tech-analysis/
As expected, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is almost visually identical on Switch and Wii U. There are, however, some minor changes on Switch. One example is a difference in fur shading and small modifications to the environment.
One major improvement on Switch concerns loading times. Just loading up the game shows a significant improvement with Nintendo’s console. Switch tends to be faster as well when going to the world map for the first time and entering levels.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze still maintains a steady frame rate. No matter if you’re playing docked or portable, it runs at 60 FPS across the board.
