Ghostbusters: The Video Game Review
But the kids love us.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is fun, and it's a pretty solid Wii experience. I'm so used to this console getting watered down ports that I don't think I was expecting Red Fly to produce something this engaging. Yes, there are flaws I see as a fan (no wand/pack connection), flaws I see as a reviewer (wrangling can take too long), and flaws everyone can see (lip syncing), but the game should still be an enjoyable ride for fans of the series or people just looking to zap and trap some supernatural wonders with the help of the Wii-mote.
Another Take
from Matt Casamassina

I have to disagree with Greg's assertion that gamers would be better served if Ghostbusters' aiming system was influenced more by Resident Evil 4. I really like the control setup in this game and think it's much better than the one Capcom used to power its survival-horror Wii port. As you move through the ambient locales, you can very quickly and accurately target both the interactive environments and the ghosts within them. It feels so much more responsive than anything you will ever find mapped to dual-analog sticks. If you like Wii controls in first-person shooters like Medal of Honor Heroes 2 or Metroid Prime 3, you will like the controls in Ghostbusters, too. So go ahead and knock the game up to a solid 8.0 if you fall in line with my point of view.

The gameplay is fun, but the constant barrage of one-liners from familiar characters is what kept a smile on my face -- Ghostbusters absolutely revels in its fan service. In between levels, you can browse your firehouse headquarters, which is littered with everything from an awesome (but non-functioning) Q*Bert machine to a very talkative painting of Vigo the Carpathian from Ghostbusters 2. You also have the opportunity to find hidden items throughout the game by following the readings on your PKE meter. All the little trinkets and details are great, and I actually prefer the stylized character designs of the Wii to the uncanny valley-esque look of the PS3/360 version.

You don't have the same breadth of multiplayer options as in the HD version of the game, but the included split-screen co-op mode more than makes up for it. Unlike the stripped down "co-op campaign" mode of the other version, the Wii port allows you to play through the entire single-player campaign with a friend. Naturally, due to the constraints of split-screen, you lose a little lateral vision, but it's still a ton of fun.

As a Ghostbusters fan, this game comes through by delivering an entertaining experience with plenty of laughs and just the right amount of action. Instead of being a hashed-together port, the Wii version of Ghostbusters shows that when a developer puts real effort into tailoring the look and gameplay of a port to the system, the results can be every bit as enjoyable as the original.
