Iwata Asks ?Project Sora? interview excerpts - this is a hardcore project that Nintendo could not make alone
Cytuj
?The thoughts of game designer Masahiro Sakurai and Nintendo have become one, and a new project has started. In order to expand what can be offered to the world through games, we will have Nintendo?s full cooperation and make something that Nintendo could not do on its own.? - Iwata

?A new experiment, both for Mr. Sakurai and for Nintendo. We?ve started a special project. We?re not sure how it will sell or if it will be accepted. Our goal is not just to make a single game. We can promise that you?ll be able to experience something different.? - Sakurai

?From our perspective, it?s not something that overlaps oddly with something that would come from Nintendo or those close to Nintendo. It?s something that can be made because Nintendo is backing you up, but is also something that Nintendo could not make.? - Iwata

?If one were simply considering effective use of funding, we?d have went with a plan similar to Touch Generations. But that?s not I wanted. We want to make something that will be wanted even by the more hardcore game players, and something that offers new ideas.? - Iwata

Smash Bros. Creator Hiring Like Mad For New Game
Masahiro Sakurai wants you to join his Nintendo 2nd-party dev.
Cytuj
Not much has been divulged about Sora since Masahiro Sakurai founded it in 2005. The creator of the Kirby and Super Smash Bros. series opened up the studio after leaving his developer post at HAL Laboratory four years ago, and word had it that they were working on two projects (in addition to Sakurai's leader role on the Super Smash Bros. Brawl staff), but actual details? Hardly a peep, there was.

That may all change very soon, as Project Sora (the tie-in development outfit created by Sora and Nintendo) took out a full-page advertisement in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine looking for job applicants. "Masahiro Sakurai and Nintendo are thinking together, and a new project has been launched," the ad said. "In order to expand the range of what video games can provide to the world, we are receiving full support from Nintendo to create something that Nintendo can't create by themselves."

The ad also includes two quotes from Sakurai and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. "I am asking for something special here, something that isn't Smash Bros.," Iwata said. "I promise that we can provide an experience like nothing seen before," Sakurai was quoted.
