?What Mr. Miyamoto has shared is that if the first Galaxy was maybe more inviting in terms of all the audiences, what Galaxy 2 is going to be is maybe a little more Nintendo fan / harder gamer focused. A little tougher. The use of Yoshi makes it a little more challenging. We showed some of the snippets of some of the activities ? it?s a bit more challenging. It?s going to be, if you will, for more of that passionate Mario fan who grew up getting challenged with Super Mario World. It?s going to be much more in that area.? - Reggie Fils-Aime
A persistent fear which comes with each new game Nintendo announces for the Wii is that the company might dilute a classic franchise in an effort to make the game appeal to a broader, "casual" audience. But in the case of Super Mario Galaxy 2, it would seem that such fears may be unfounded."I do believe that there is a lot here to appeal to the more veteran and more experienced gamers," Producer Shigeru Miyamoto tells Nintendo Power, "and I think it's a title that they will obviously enjoy, but I really took it into consideration and tried to do our best to create a game that's accessible to new gamers as well. And, you know, we also built it with consideration that we believe that people who played through the first Mario Galaxy have become better players."Hmm, sounds like they may be upping the challenge a bit. I'm really not sure what to think about that; Super Mario Galaxy is one of my favorite games of all time, but it also came with its fair share of frustrations (Ray racing and Purple Coin Challenges, for example), and so even I haven't collected every star. I hope that the increase in difficulty Miyamoto seems to be hinting towards won't be a turn-off.After all, there's a fine line between "challenging" and simply "frustrating." Here's hoping that at the very least, they find enough balance to allow gamers a satisfying experience without throwing controllers.

This information comes from Shigeru Miyamoto, on the latest episode of GameTrailers TV??We?re in the middle of finalizing the game, the ideas that we?ve created, almost entirely new courses for Super Mario Galaxy 2. Of course we?ve added some new abilities for Mario. And the goal is to take the system and the gameplay of the original Super Mario Galaxy and turn it into something that?s a little more expanded and offers a great deal of challenge for people that enjoyed that first game.?The original Super Mario Galaxy provides an incredibly entertaining experience, so following the game?s announcement, I was extremely happy. And if Galaxy 2 was to be more of the same (although I don?t think it will be), just being able to roam around in new levels would be fantastic.
