Boston (dbTechno) - According to a recent survey by Entertainment Media Research, the Sony PS3 is expected to be the must-have holiday gift this coming shopping season, thanks to the games line-up, as well as the emergence of the high-definition Blu-ray format.The 2008 Digital Entertainment Survey which was conducted has found that many consumers are ready to embrace more high-definition content before the end of the year.This is great news for the Sony PS3, which has a built-in Blu-ray player.The PS3, according to the survey, will likely be the must-have item this holiday season.The survey questioned 1,600 British consumers, and found that 24% stated that they would view a high-definition movie in the next 6 months.60% of those who responded stated they were waiting to see whether Blu-ray or HD DVD would win the format war.
Sony: In-game communication, firmware 2.4 coming in Summer
According to sources who attended the retailer and publisher focused Destination PlayStation conference last week in Scottsdale, Arizona, Sony showed off a portion of its video store. It reportedly uses the same SingStore-like interface we talked about in our PlayStation Store revamp post, something we hoped to capture in the mock-up of the video store above.No specifics on launch date, pricing, digital rights management or integration with the redesigned PlayStation Store were provided, but we did hear that North America may be getting the service before anyone else. The only offerings we were told about were Sony Pictures owned. Word on who else might be licensing their content to the the store wasn't provided.
At the end of the night they gave us a few pieces of paper and asked our takes on the ideas (probably already set in stone). The following are the sheets that they asked our opinions on:1. Heavenly sword 2 will take place 10 years after the events in heavenly sword 12. The main character will be a male with martial arts background3. The main character will be Kai, but she will be a more mature woman.4. The game will require you to master different martial arts styles before retrieving the heavenly sword5. The game will, instead of button mashing, have controls that utilize an analog stick to go through weapons.6. The game will have downloadable weapons, characters, and enemies to customize your experience.7. The game will be more interactive with the environment8. The game will have you on a storyline with replayable missions, as opposed to an open world
