A leaked script for the casting call suggests that the developers have something revolutionary to unveil. The script talks of ?a never before seen look at Final Fantasy XIII?. It?s enough to whet the appetite of any fan.

We may be seeing this exclusive footage sooner than you think, too. Japan gets the game on 17th December, so it has to be between now and then?

French game retailer Micromania leaked the EU/NA release date for FFXIII. It?s 15 April 2010!

Micromania held an event in France today called Micromania Game Show. Tonight there will be a special FFXIII ?event? (The press could register for it yesterday) and probably the release date will be confirmed there. The game is being published by Eidos.

The growth system is called ?Crystalium System? and closely resembles to the sphere grid from FFX. In battle you will earn CP (Crystalium Points) instead of Experience points which aren?t in the game (like FFX). There won?t be a level-up system in FFXIII! With the earned CP points you will be able to learn an ability and when you learned it another one will open up.

No more information is currently known. It?s still unclear how the abilities are lined-up. It doesn?t look like a grid or board like past FF?s. Famitsu will probably also have information about this Crystalium system next week, so look forward to that.

Byleby wyeliminowano bolączkę tego systemu, czyli że każda postać ostatecznie zaliczała praktycznie cały grid, stając się taka sama pod względem umiejętności.

Na szczęście były dwa Gridy; poza tym można było go dowolnie customizować.

Next week?s Shonen Jump has leaked a bit early, considering it?s still Friday, but we have them. The new scans reveal both Hope?s summon Alexander in Final Fantasy XIII as well as what the beloved Chocobo will look like this time around.

The magazine also reveals that Final Fantasy XIII in Japan will come with beta access to Final Fantasy XIV.

Next week?s Famitsu will feature this information as well. We?ll have scans for that come its release.

Now, everything leaked from stores must always be taken with a grain of salt?.
Often, shops simply take educated guesses on release dates and have placeholder images as box art. That said, Play-Asia?s ?Preliminary Picture? of Final Fantasy XIII is different that the mockups being more widely used, and is a more recent update to boot. (Previously, it was just a white box like everyone else has.) Furthermore, it?s sporting a T rating instead of RP, which again puts it in the minority. Does Play-Asia know something we don?t? While one must always be cautious, these retail leaks of info and images have been slightly more reliable than usual, lately, so it seems worth considering, though we?ll say again: it?s far from official. We?ll see.

Square Enix global president Yoichi Wada has revealed today that development on Final Fantasy XIII has been ?going very steadily? for the US ane European versions and that they?re ?just adding the final touches? to the game.

?We?ve completed the master of the Japanese version, and for the US and European versions we?re just adding the final touches,? Wada told GI.biz. ?The last stage of development has gone very smoothly this time.

?It took us a tremendous amount of time to develop the software for this generation, so that?s a lesson for the creators.?

Perhaps Final Fantasy XIII will launch much sooner than we thought? We?ll have to see come this Friday, when both a US and European announcement will be made on the game.

?Special' video will contain must-see info on massive game, Square Enix tells MCV

Square Enix has told MCV that ?must see? news about Final Fantasy XIII will be revealed via a video on the game?s official website this Friday afternoon.

Little is known about what the video will contain, but insiders at the publisher ? which showed the game off at E3 in July ? have labelled the reveal "a huge, special event".

Vice president of brand at Square Enix Europe Larry Sparks told MCV today:

?We have some very big news regarding Final Fantasy XIII; that we will be revealing Friday afternoon.

"We wanted to share the news with as many people as possible, so we have created a special video that will be unveiled on Friday. We hope you enjoy the announcement.?

Final Fantasy XIII?s Crystarium System is one thing; now here comes the game?s weapon system.

Lightning and company are not limited to the base statistics of their equipped weapon. Players have the ability to apply weapon upgrades using materials that enemies drop in battle or those found in treasure chest. There are over one hundred materials that can be used to upgrade weapons. These upgrades will boost your weapons strength and experience.

The latest issue of Shonen Jump in Japan gives two examples on how these weapon upgrades will work, using Lightning and Snow as their subjects.

Lightning?s ?Blaze Edge? sword starts off as its simple self, but after apply upgrades, it morphs into the ?Slash Carbine?, packing not only more power, but a completely different look.

The magazine also provides a quick look at a new ruins area in Cocoon. The new area, located deep underground, is home to Shigai creatures, what I?Cie become if they?re unable to fulfill their assigned task.

Square Enix had promised to make a big announcement today regarding Final Fantasy XIII, and towards the end of the newly released trailer have unveiled exactly what fans within both Europe and America have been waiting for ? it?s release date.

Nick Chester, from Destructoid.com, revealed that he had received confirmation of the US release which is set on March 9th 2010, with a European release on March 12th 2010.

To, że ludzie z Europy i USA importowali by gre z Japonii, a że tam nie ma wersji na XO, to by kupowali na PS3. I właśnie dlatego później w marcu wyniki sprzedaży na Xie mogłyby być mniejsze.

Zreszta nie ma o czym dyskutować, bo na pewno takie napisy się nie pojawią. A gdyby miały się pojawić SE już by się zdążyło tym pochwalić pewnie.

Jako że jakiś czas nie było mnie na forum, to napiszę że premiera w marcu mnie zaskoczyła. Wprawdzie nie czekam jakoś szczególnie na FFXIII, ale miło że tak szybko będzie można to obadać, jeszcze demko by się przydało, bo nie wiem czy system walki podpasuje.

GamingUnion.net: In Friday's announcement of Final Fantasy XIII's release date it mentioned that Final Fantasy XIII is possibly the most anticipated game of all time. Do you think Final Fantasy XIII will be the best selling Final Fantasy ever?

Yoichi Wada: We would like to hope so.

GamingUnion.net: Is there any specific reason or point to Final Fantasy XIII that you think will make it possibly the best selling?

Wada: When we say that it is going to be the best selling title ever, the hurdle/bar is really high because of Final Fantasy VII sold 10 million units. So is it okay to think what you are going to be asking is that it is going to be selling a lot? [sic] And it's not there are new elements that are included into the Final Fantasy XIII, there are elements that are included that is expected out of the Final Fantasy title itself, for example a beautiful story, it being emotional and moving and you'll be able to relax and enjoy. Those are included, but there is not a lot of newness to it. But when we take a look at a lot of Western game titles recently it is based on the real-world most of them, and with regards to some of the artworks in a sense it might look new because it is based on a fantasy story.


Square Enix may just be setting their estimates too high, as Final Fantasy VII brought the RPG genre to 3D in a huge way, and revolutionized the RPG genre. Unless Final Fantasy XIII can break substantial ground with the game, the likelihood it beats Final Fantasy VII seem slim.
