Wii Sports Resort Crosses Half Million
Nintendo's latest could have some serious legs.
Cytuj
July 10, 2009 - Nintendo appears to have another hit on its hands with Wii Sports Resort. Following last week's impressive Japanese debut, the game maintained enough momentum to place first this week once again, pushing it above the 500,000 mark.

Konami Announces Walking Simulator
Cytuj
Ever wanted to go outside in the lovely sunshine for a good ol' walk about? Too tired, too lazy? Konami has the solution: Let's Walk it Out.

The brains behind Dance Dance Revolution want to slow down the pace a little with a new walking simulation that uses the dance mat or balance board to you simulate walking outdoors from the comfort of your own living room. There'll be over 100 songs to accompany the action and give some rhythm and structure to your movement. Those without mats or boards can use the wii remote/nunchuck as well.

W moim odczuciu to jest bardziej niż chore. Symulator spacerowania? Kto z tego skorzysta?

Wii Receives 4.1 System Update
Cytuj
If you're chowing down your breakfast at the moment, have a gander at your Wii. It should be blue. Update 4.1 is out!

The update is supposedly essential for Wii Sports Resort - as earlier this month the update was able to patch a bug found in the game over in Japan, and it's likely to be used for a similar effect over the in west. Also expect those "behind the scenes" adjustments and magical tweaks to enhance system performance.

Surprise! Iwata says Wii slowing down due to lack of quality software
Cytuj
?It?s not the case of the quality of hardware moved, the feeling of missing strong competitive power, lacking its luster or poor sales. Consistently, big time titles will be released in the marketplace for this hardware. When that stops, to reinvigorate the console, or to put it another way, I think the current decline in hardware sales is due to the fact that there aren?t many big titles (at the moment).? - Satoru Iwata

RUMOR - Another Factor 5 Wii project canned
Cytuj
As we have got to know, former Factor 5 assets and projects were transferred to the new start-up "White Harvest LLC", basically Factor 5 just with less employees and without PS3/X360 projects. While the lawsuit - which was filed by former Factor 5 employees - said that White Harvest LLC resumed work on Project Blue Harvest (a new Rogue Squadron title for Wii), there was another game in development which was cancelled only last month. Started in February, the project is said to have been a conversion of a large open world game, probably Superman. However, it seems as if the publisher (EA?) did not have enough faith in the game. As a result, layoffs happened again.

Nevertheless, White Harvest LLC continues their work on another Wii game which may or may not be announced this year. It is also noteworthy that Achim Moller reports that there are multiple Factor 5 projects for Wii. Sadly, it cannot be confirmed whether this includes the cancelled project or whether there is another Wii project in development at the studio. News may hit at this months gamescom though.

High Voltage on The Conduit Sequel
Cytuj
High Voltage's Joshua Olsen has commented on the possibility of a sequel to exclusive Wii shooter, The Conduit.
Without giving too much away, with the storyline in the original leaving room for a sequel, fans have hoped and expected the studio to be making a sequel. It all depends on how well it's done, sales and fans wise - nothing's being work on at the moment, but the team do want to continue Agent Ford's story.
Wypowiedz:
Cytuj
I have no idea, it all depends on the fans and sales but it's a little early for now to assume anything. Anyway, we are very interested to make a sequel to The Conduit, it's quite a robust world and there are more stories we want to tell.

Sure there are, The Conduit is the first part for our hero and we want to make more parts to tell more things about him.

We have not started to work on a sequel.

Digital Leisure might bring Dragon's Lair to Wii, hints at DSiWare titles
Cytuj
A portion of a WiiLoveIt interview with Paul Gold of Digital Leisure...

WLI: Given that there was talk about Dragon's Lair coming to the DS platform, do you think the series could ever see the light of day on the Wii?

PG: Dragon's Lair for the Wii is certainly a possibility. We've heard from countless Dragon's Lair fans in the last year who desperately want to see this arcade classic on the Wii and it's something that could happen. Should anything be decided, there would definitely be a major announcement.

WLI: What are your thoughts so far on how the DSiWare service is shaping up? Do you think your games would be well-suited for the DSiWare platform, particularly Sudoku Challenge?

PG: DSiWare is shaping up nicely and I think we'll start seeing more and more titles arrive just as we did with WiiWare. I think Sudoku would make perfect sense for the DSi system and who knows, it might be available sooner than you think! ;)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Wii Bound
Cytuj
Activision has confirmed plans to bring Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare over to the Wii later this year.

The critically acclaimed first person shooter made its debut back in 2007 across multiple platforms, PC, Mac and Nintendo's DS but since then there have only been rumours for a Wii release. The publisher has confirmed a release on November 10th 2009, with Treyarch handling the porting work.

The game will also be launching alongside Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2, available on next-generation consoles.

Thanks to Stulaw, wAyNe - sTaRT and Canyarion.

What do you think of the move? Are you interested in a Wii version, or should the studio have worked on something new for Nintendo's console?

"Enclave" ? Fantasy Highlight on the Way
Village1 confirms project "Enclave" for Nintendo Wii.
Cytuj
August 6, 2009 - Frankfurt, Germany - Today the German production house Village1 Entertainment officially announce workings on the project "ENCLAVE" for Nintendo Wii. Based on many requests from the fantasy community, Village1 Entertainment decided to support this exciting fantasy production. The Wii version is guaranteed to offer all features of former brand releases and will contain new features in addition to previous versions. Due to an experienced team the game is already in an advanced development stage and will prospective hit the shelves beginning of 2010.

"ENCLAVE" is a fantasy action epos charged with spectacular fights and many RPG elements. In the beginning the player takes control of a fearless knight fighting his way out of a mysterious fortress. While the player can switch between both First Person and Third Person Modus his goal is to defend the lone city of Celenheim from the dark Outlanders preparing to invade. Underlined with a dramatic Hollywood like soundtrack "ENCLAVE" is set to offer plenty of gaming hours.

During the game the player has the possibility to pick further characters as rogues, elves and magicians. All characters are using a spectacular combat system, can wear hundreds of unique armour pieces and can be equipped with both melee and range weapons. The character selection is very important since every mission has unique challenges and unexpected twists.

Valve believes Natal, Wii are both very important.
Cytuj
Yes, we absolutely think these (Wii and Natal) are important, and it's a scenario where Valve is behind. There are lots of areas where we would say that we know as much as anybody in the world about X or Y or Z. On the other hand, with motion input and vision, we have nothing compared to the people that have been operating in that space. - Gabe Newell, Valve

SEGA is 'absolutely' making more hardcore Wii games, considers The Conduit a success, MadWorld sales were 'very disappointing'
Cytuj
A portion of a Wired interview with Sega President and COO Mike Hayes...

Wired.com:
MadWorld was a widely praised title, but sales were disappointing. Why do you think that is? Do you think that ?core? games just don?t sell on the Wii?

Mike Hayes: It?s difficult because it was a critically acclaimed title; it was extreme but good. The thing that we?re saying is, Sega would be extremely arrogant to have a title that didn?t do as well as we thought on a platform and then say, ?Those kind of games don?t sell on that platform.? I think if you take our slew of more mature games ? House of the Dead Overkill did really well in Europe, and for some reason even though it?s a big (intellectual property) it did less well in North America. So that?s kind of like a win and a miss that?s kind of come out neutral.

MadWorld sales were very disappointing, but was that to do with the platform? Was it that people didn?t like the art style? Or that people didn?t like the way the game played through? It could be many things, which we?re obviously researching.

Wired.com: What about The Conduit?

Hayes: We actually regard The Conduit as a success. We shipped 300,000 units, sold through half of those and now it?s at the point where it?s selling consistently at a time when Wii sales are generally depressed in the marketplace. So what does that tell you? We still kind of don?t know.

What we can say is that we?ll still do mature games for the Wii market because with an install base of some 34 million in Europe and America (maybe half of whom don?t own Xbox 360s and PS3s)?. So even if you took half of those where they?re not into those (core) games, you?ve still got 8 million consumers to go for. So I think the sheer scale of the Wii allows a shooter, or a mature game, to be a niche but a successful niche. And because the development costs can be less on Wii, that means you can sell less to be successful?. We can take more risks on the Wii.

Wired.com: So Sega will continue to have a commitment to making hard-core games on the Wii, despite the sales of MadWorld.

Hayes: Absolutely. You?ll see more games in that genre coming from us.

Capcom Files New Trademark for Okami Sequel?
Cytuj
Japanese Powerhouse Capcom has been caught filing a new trademark; could it be a sequel to Clover Studio's Masterpiece?

Although talk of a sequel has occurred before, namely that the original would have to sell enough to warrant a continuation of Amaterasu's adventures, and considering that the Wii version has reached over 300,000 without even being released in Japan yet, there was chance of a sequel, but still not very likely with Clover's disbandment. Okamiden might change that; Could the October 15th release of Okami Wii in Japan be drumming up interest for a potential sequel, or could Okamiden be something else entirely? Either way, few could question the best format of choice for any potential Amaterasu return.

Next week's Famitsu to reveal Okamiden
Cytuj
There have been rumblings as of late, regarding something called "Okamiden," which Siliconera first discovered upon poking through some of Capcom's trademarks. The company was found to own the rights to the word, and the popular belief and/or hope is that it could be an Okami sequel. "OMG what else could it be!?" you might ask.

Well, thanks to 7-Eleven (of all places) we're about to find out next week. Andriasang reports that the company's e-commerce site shows a listing for the upcoming September 17th issue of Famitsu, (which hits newsstands on September 3rd), with the contents of said issue marked only as "Okamiden."

With Clover studios sadly out of the picture, it's hard to jump right on this and declare that it absolutely must be a new Okami title, especially since the word "Okami" itself is not altogether uncommon. It sure would be nice though, wouldn't it? Looks like we'll find out for sure on Septmber 3rd, and we'll let you know regardless.

Harvest Moon: Tree Of Tranquility dated for Europe
Cytuj
Harvest Moon fans will be pleased to learn that Tree Of Tranquility will finally be released for Wii in the UK on 9 October.
The new game in the farming series was released in Japan in 2007 and hit the US last year, so it's taken a long time to reach these shores.
In the first Harvest Moon game to be made exclusively for the Wii, you'll be tasked with running a farm in a fantasy world. As usual, you'll begin with a small plot before building it up into a fully fledged farm with crops and animals.
You must plant seeds to grow fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs in the spring, summer and autumn. You can also go fishing and mining for extra profit and collect items to make home improvements.
As you build up your farm you'll befriend the locals, get married and have children. It's typical Harvest Moon gameplay.
Of course, this being Harvest Moon, there's some strange story. The Harvest Tree was the life of Waffle Island but it has died, causing the rainbows to disappear along with the Harvest Sprites. So you have to save the Sprites, bring the Tree back to life and deliver prosperity to the island once again.

Mini Ninjas platform differences
Cytuj
A portion of a Nintendo Now interview with developer Jeremy Petreman...

NN: Will there be any huge differences in gameplay between each version(Wii,DS,etc.) of the game, or anything to set one apart from the others?

JP: We aimed to make the console versions of the game as closely linked as possible, though we did a lot of development to take advantage of the strengths of each. The gameplay on the PS3 and Wii, for example, each make use of the different motion controllers in many areas. The graphics on the Xbox 360 and PS3 were also built using more advanced shaders and in some cases, using different techniques. On the whole though, our aim was to make the consoles as close as possible, and that meant pushing the Wii to the very edge of what it was capable of.

The situation with the DS was somewhat different. That platform obviously had to be approached from another angle. It mostly follows the same storyline, but has some key differences in gameplay. For example, many times throughout the game the player will enter what we call the Plane of Spirits. In the DS version of the game, this is represented by a 2D world that Hiro must navigate to solve certain puzzles blocking his way using the stylus in different ways, blowing into the microphone to move objects, etc.

SEGA doesn't know why MadWorld flopped, but The Conduit sales show a market for core games on Wii
Cytuj
?I don?t know why MadWorld didn?t sell so wel. Perhaps it was the black and white graphics or the violence, but to argue mature games don?t sell well on Wii just because we launched one that didn?t hit right away would be arrogant. We have other teen and mature games we will be launching on the Wii platform." - Sega West president Mike Hayes

Mr. Hayes used that remark as a jumping point into the discussion of The Conduit's success. SEGA considers the 300,000 units shipped worldwide a win.

"Show me another new IP that has done those numbers, bearing in mind the Wii market has been a little slow this summer. If you compare The Conduit with other core IP that?s been launched in the last three years it?s tracking well above.?

Sakurai - Games being geared towards casuals or core instead of exploring various ideas
Cytuj
...I think games are being geared toward two extremes: games for casual users, and games for heavy users. Titles like Wii Sports and Brain Age are fun and sold great, but the sort of people who play games daily found them too simple. On the other hand, if someone's never played games before, you can't expect them to complete a complex game right off the bat. To be honest, it's a tough era to go on new adventures. I don't see that as a bad thing, though. There are tons of FPSes in the US marketplace, and that's not because they've run out of ideas or the customers are too conservative with their choices. It's because they want to enjoy the fun of diving into another world." - Masahiro Sakurai

Deeper into the Factor 5 rabbit hole - more details on unannounced Wii games
Cytuj
First up, information from designer Kevin Reilly, who worked for Factor 5. Here's a blurb from his personal site...

Factor 5 was my most recent place of employment where I was brought on as a Jr. Game Designer. I was working on an unannounced casual title for the Nintendo Wii.

My main duties were to implement missions based on the activities outlined in the design doc. Most of what I did was to create fun missions/activities using object placement. We had "design kits" which were essentially just a group of assets that were made to function with certain mission types. How they were placed throughout the environment determined the experience given to the player. For example, if a mission was to destroy a number of targets I would vary the mission by changing the number, type, and placement of the targets. The missions were designed to be played in 5-15 minute increments and players had a wide variety of activities to choose from.

...

I loved working on this project because it taught me a lot about designing for casual players as opposed to my previous experience designing for the hardcore players.

Check out the full post here

Next up, a resume from developer Drew Langlois...

SHIPPED TITLES

-Title Classified- March 2008 to Dec 2008

-Title Classified- Aug 2007 to March 2008

5th Cell confirms work on Wii project
Cytuj
NWR: Any chance you could talk about what's next for 5th Cell?

JS: Yeah, we're doing console. We're getting into console. We're not abandoning DS in the sense that we'll never do it again, but for right now we're moving into console. That's where we always started [our] company. I started the company six years ago with our Technical Director, and Joe our General Manager, so we're doing console next year and it will be original. We always do original stuff. You won't see licensed stuff. I mean you might see licensed stuff in the sense like a Mario game that's original or something like that. We're not doing that, but I'm just saying I would. I would do that, but not like a movie license or something dumb. I like how Bioware did the Star Wars RPG, it wasn't like "Oh we're just making a Star Wars game. No, we're taking the license and making something really awesome with it."

NWR: Since we're a Nintendo site, I've got to ask if you are developing a game for the Wii.

JS: That's one of the consoles. We're actually working on multiple consoles. There's multiple titles.

NWR: Multiple titles?

JS: Yes, and Wii is one of them.

Cing says Trace Memory: R being published in North America is still undecided, future entries could hit Wii or DS, and Hotel Dusk may come to Wii

Cytuj
C3: There has been no news of Another Code: R being released in the US yet. Would you be disappointed if fans of 'Trace Memory' were unable to play your latest game?

KIRA: I believe that CiNG's text-based adventure games are the sort that can be welcomed in by any country. It has become evident, though, that Another Code: Two Memories and Hotel Dusk: Room 215 were both welcomed more by the European market, rather than the Japanese or North American populace. This is, of course, one of the reasons why we have delivered this title to the European market before the US.

It should be said that even though we have a strong feeling that all customers all over the world should be able to enjoy this title, it has not yet been decided if it will indeed be released in North America at this present moment. So for now, please let me refrain from commenting further on this matter?

C3: Will you be considering making a new Another Code for DS again, or is Wii the direction you want to take the series in now?

MIYAGAWA: We are not planning on sticking to any one specific platform. We still have plenty of new ideas that we would like to explore on both Wii and Nintendo DS, so we are keeping our options open where possible.

C3: ...now that Another Code has arrived on Wii is Hotel Dusk already being made as well?

MIYAGAWA: We have nothing concrete that we can currently comment on right at this moment. However, considering there is such a high level of expectation around this idea, as well as all the new ideas that are unique and fun related to the Wii system itself, I believe there would definitely be a possibility of this happening. All I can say is that we are definitely going to challenge various kinds of possibilities in the future! *smiles*

Potrzebujesz przerobionę konsolę (chip lub homebrew channel), znajdujesz w sieci parę progsów (program do odpalania z dysku zewnętrznego, custom ios musisz zainstalować i to chyba wszystko).
Gry mają krótsze loadingi, działa chyba 100% gier ze wszystkich regionów, niektóre działają też po skompresowaniu i wycięciu niepotrezbnych plików.
Ogólnie polecam :)
Atari created it, Nintendo pioneerd it, Sony popularized it, Microsoft bought it...

No Plans for Professor Layton on Wii
Akihiro Hino, Level 5 CEO, has discussed the future of Professor Layton, and was asked whether the series would be Wii bound.

Speaking to ONM, Hino outlined the franchise's plans on the DS. With the ending of the first trilogy comes another threesome of Layton games, but will there ever be a home-console adventure for the professor?
Cytuj
This trilogy comes to a conclusion with Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel, but we will be releasing the first title of the new trilogy, Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny in Japan. The new trilogy will also be based around solving puzzles, but will also include greatly improved bonus modes so I think that players will be able to enjoy the games for even longer. We currently have no plans for a Wii release.

IGN teasing an A-level game coming from Nintendo
Cytuj
The IGN team knows of a Nintendo title that much of the game world doesn't. It appears that this game is not a B-level game, which would mean that it's a pretty big deal. Also, Matt Casamassina says that the title came out of nowhere. Too bad we have no idea just how long we'll be waiting to find out about this title. Let's hope we get at least some details before the week ends!

RUMOR - Famitsu delayed due to Nintendo news
Cytuj
If this week were like any other, we'd be flooded with news from Famitsu. For one reason or another, that flood hasn't happened yet. Of course, the dry spell has lead many to start speculation on why there's no issue information out on the net.

One of the bigger rumors going around is that the current issue isn't in subscribers' hands because of Nintendo. Apparently, Famitsu might be holding out on their issue to coordinate an announcement with Nintendo. Of course, this is nothing but speculation at this point, but we do know that Nintendo has a new game to announce, and Charles Martinet is recording voicework for a new Mario project. Whether both these tidbits are related to one another is unknown. Thanks to Jarrod for the heads up!

Miyamoto discusses Mario's plumber origins, the future direction of Nintendo hardware/motion controls, and alluding to Zelda Wii as his dream game
Cytuj
A portion of a Popular Mechanics interview with Shigeru Miyamoto...

PM: When was it decided that he was a plumber?

SM: When we first created Donkey Kong, I kind of looked at him as your average, everyday foolish guy. The setting of that game was a construction site, so I kind of matched him with the setting of the game, and decided in that game that he was a carpenter. And then when we made the original Mario Bros. game, that was the first game that had pipes in it, and the enemies would come out of the pipes into this dark area and Mario would try to hit them and knock them out. Looking at the setting of that game, it had the feeling of an underground New York sewer system. And so with the pipes and the idea of it being an underground New York sewer system, I thought what kind of guy would be there working on the pipes? A plumber! So rather than saying Mario was a plumber, really it was a matter of what's his role in the game and what's the setting of the game and kind of occupation would put him in the setting to be doing what he's doing.

PM: This is a broad question, but where do you see the future of video games?

SM: I think originally video-game systems were viewed as a toy, and they were something you played with. Whereas now I think we're starting to see a blurring of the lines, where, obviously, the internal guts of a video-game system is essentially a computer, and we're gradually seeing video games moving beyond simply entertainment into other aspects of everyday life. And I think what video games benefit from is an intuitive interface that's easy to understand, where the controller is a little bit more familiar and easier to use than the interface of a typical computer. As time goes on, I think we're going to see how the system of the video-game console and this interactive interface is going to gradually bleed in to other elements of, say, home electronics and daily life. For example, in Japan the Wii itself has a TV guide channel that Wii owners can download to their Wii. And for a lot of people in Japan who own a Wii, that TV guide channel is a lot more convenient and easier to use than a typical TV guide service.

PM: The Wii uses a motion-sensing controller. Going forward, as Nintendo releases future consoles, do you view the motion-sensing controller as an integral part of the experience that's going to stay with Nintendo indefinitely?

SM: With both the Wii remote itself and Wii Motion Plus, what we've been able to do is introduce an interface that is both I think appealing and at the right price for a broad audience. And while we don't have any concrete plans for what we'll be doing with hardware in the future, what I can say is that, my guess is that because we found this interface to be so interesting, I think it would be likely that we would try to make that same functionality perhaps more compact and perhaps even more cost-efficient.

PM: What's your dream type of game that takes advantage of the Wii-mote?

SM: Right now I'm focusing on creating the next Zelda game.

Miyamoto - my job is to seduce programmers into doing what I want them to
Cytuj
Question - So it always seems like you have your hand in so many projects at once. How do you make sure that all the stuff gets done on time, and what are some of your work philosophies, but also bad habits?

Miyamoto - As far as what I do to make sure that titles don?t get behind schedule, essentially, all my titles end up getting behind schedule at some point so there?s really nothing I can say about that (laughs).

But what I can say that we do with our development is? as the technologies advance, the graphics have become obviously much more beautiful than they used to be. And the sound in games is much more advanced than it used to be. And both of those are elements that require a great deal of resources to create. I think a lot of times people will try to put all of the graphics in and put all of the sound into a game, and then evaluate the game at that point.

What we really try to focus on is the framework or the skeleton of the game. If there are elements that absolutely have to have sound in order for us to make a determination as to whether or not they affect the gameplay elements, we will include the sound in those elements. If there are elements that absolutely have to have the graphics, we will include those graphics, but we won?t complete the sound or the graphics for the entire game.

Instead, what we do is we look strictly at the skeleton framework of what the interactive experience is. And it?s when we run into issues with the specific framework or the specific skeleton that forms the core of the game. When we find that that?s not going to be a compelling experience, that?s when I tend to upend the tea table. And so that generally happens before all of the effort has been put in on the graphics and the sound. That?s the one thing that we do that I feel is important to help us keep on track.

And then I generally get very deeply involved in individual projects in the later stages as they?re really refining the level design and polishing the game. And in terms of my bad habits in development, I would say that it?s probably commonly considered within Nintendo that my bad habit, even when the programmers are telling me, ?We can?t change the program anymore, we have to stop,? I keep telling them to make changes to make things better (laughs).

So my job is really to seduce the programmers into doing what I want them to do (laughs).

"GoldenEye 2010" outed for Wii?
Cytuj
The CV of an ex-Eurocom animator has outed a possible N64 remake for Wii, "GoldenEye 2010"

The CV, which belongs to one Craig Peck, says the ex-Eurocom man worked as an animator "on Activision's James Bond series for the Nintendo Wii", before joining L.A. Noire developer Team Bondi.

Peck's job on the mysterious GoldenEye game apparently involved "key frame animation, the preparation and clean-up of motion capture data, prop animation, in-game cut-scene animation, scene layout, and camera animation."

It should be noted that the next Bond game is actually in development at Bizarre Creations, with Eurocom having ported Treyarch's Quantum of Solace to Wii last year.

Didn't EA try this whole GoldenEye revival a few years ago? We've left a message with Activision.

Capcom bringing MT Framework engine to Wii
Cytuj
Capcom uses their MT Framework engine to make games shine on the 360 and PS3. It looks like Capcom now has plans to bring that same engine over to the Wii, all in the name of saving development costs.

Today' Nikkei Industrial has a report that confirms plans to bring a 360/PS3 engine over to Wii, although MT Framework is not named specifically. It's almost 100% confirmed that the MT Framework engine is the one being discussed. Making this engine work on Wii will eventually save Capcom 1/5 of simultaneous development costs, and 1/3 from separate games. Thanks to René for the heads up!

RUMOR - Nintendo/LucasArts sitting on two completed Wii titles from Factor 5
Cytuj
It seems like no one can get any news straight from Factor 5. Even the bigger gaming news outlets like IGN can't get the company to crack. All we ever have to go on are rumors and leaks.

Now we're hearing that Nintendo and LucasArts are sitting on not one, but two completed Wii games. LucasArts is yet to publish a supposed Rogue Squadron title, and Nintendo hasn't moved on a completed Pilotwings upgrade. If this is true, I'd like to know what's going on with these two titles!

RUMOR - Analyst says Netflix was due to hit Wii before the year's end, but now Nintendo might wait for Wii HD
Cytuj
"What I'm hearing is that Nintendo originally planned to bring the Netflix service to the Wii before the end of this year, which still might take place, but that Nintendo is also considering holding off on the Netflix service until they release their next generation Wii HD unit in early 2010." - Dan Rayburn

Wondering what the original names of Sin and Punishment, and Perfect Dark were?
Cytuj
Satoru Iwata ? President of Nintendo
Shingo Matsushita ? Software Planning & Development Team
Yurie Hattori ? Software Planning & Development Team
Hitoshi Yamagami ? Software Planning & Development Team
Masato Maegawa ? CEO of Treasure Corporation
Atsutomo Nakagawa ? Director of Treasure Corporation
Yasushi Suzuki ? Art Director

Yamagami: At first, it was developed with the title ?Glass Soldier.?

Maegawa: The frail-looking protagonist was like a blade of grass, so we tried to go with ?Grass Solider.?

Yamagami: However, at the time all the game titles were in katakana, so it turned into ?Why don?t we think up a title with kanji??

Iwata: At the time, it wasn?t uncommon for games and their katakana titles to be buried what with all the games being released. But what was the motive for deciding on ?Sin & Punishment??

Yamagami: Coincidentally, at the time, one of the development titles from the information development team (possibly referring to EAD) was ?Red and Black??

Iwata: You mean ?Perfect Dark?11?

Yamagami: Yes. ?Red and Black? was the name used during development even though it was eventually sold as ?Perfect Dark,? but we thought that if there was a ?Red and Black? then ?Sin & Punishment? could work as well. We added a subtitle that allowed players to get a feel for the theme of the game. At this point, when we discussed with the young staff members, they proposed, ?Why don?t we write ?Earth? but read it as ?star??? and we went, ?That?s good!? We made it fit the theme of the story, so the title turned into ?Successor (Keishousha) of the Earth.?

Tales of Vesperia Coming To Wii?
Cytuj
Namco Bandai may be working on another version of Tales of Vesperia, but the news isn?t directly from them. Rikiya Koyama, the voice of Duke in Tales of Vesperia, says on his blog Tales of Vesperia started as an Xbox game, then it came to PS3 and would appear on the Wii next.

Koyama notes the strength of the Vesperia brand and the animated move so he may have meant a new game in the Vesperia line, a spin-off similar to Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World. Or he may have been talking about a port. It?s not like Namco Bandai is shy about porting Tales games.

Personally, I?d prefer a spin-off. Maybe something that ties in with Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike.

Next-genowa Zelda, bądź Metroid Prime to moje marzenie. ;)
