The first video is an introduction showing off a few new places in Home as well as the In-Home game Chess. The first place the player visits is a clothing store called "Threads" where players can purchase clothing items for their character. While the current clothes in the store are free, having a "checkout" and "confirm transaction" screen makes us believe some clothes will eventually cost money.

After leaving Threads, the player moves upstairs to the chess tables and briefly shows how gamers will participate and play Chess.

The video ends with the player entering a store currently called "Home Stuff", where at this time no items are available. Our guess is that "Home Stuff" will be the store where gamers can purchase specialty items like the recently revealed bubble machine.

The next video shows Home's use of the in-game PSP. Using the functionality of the Home PSP, players will be able to access such things as:

- Community (Message of the Day, News, Handy Links, etc)
- Help (First time in Home, Character Customization, Moving to new locations, Your Home Space, and other step-by-step guides)
- Communication (phone a friend, accept call, reject call, etc)
- Game Launching (Create a game, Join a game, View Player List, Cancel game)
- Locations (My Home Space, Home Square, Game Space, Home Theatre, Market Place, Owned Spaces)
- Settings (Themes (skins), Pop-Up Colour, sound, chat window, controls, communication)
- Personal (Go to Wardrobe, Redecorate Home Space, My Inventory, My Purchases, My Profile)

One thing that's interesting about the Create-a-Game menu is that when selected it seems to pull up a list of games that the player may own. The list from the video includes such games as Call of Duty 4, Virtua Tennis 3, SuperStar Dust HD, Motorstorm, Flow, and a few others. Are these games already using Home integration or can Home use any game you own for the PS3?

The last video in the series shows off a few new things including the new bubble machine and Home Theatre. The player begins showing how to access items and interact with them in the world. In this case the bubble machine.

Moving to the Home Theatre, the player brings up the in-game PSP once again, showing how players can create game sessions, in this case Call of Duty 4. Whats interesting is that while in Home, players can choose how many player slots they want available as well as private slots. When the game creation process is finished, a controller icon appears above the players head and a message pops up stating:

"Session Created
Players may now join your game. You may hide this window and re-open at any time from the Game Launching Menu in the PSP."

Susan Panico, Senior Director of the PlayStation Network has finally stated that "we'll be opening up the Home Beta to the public very soon and hope to see u there." This quote of gold that many users have been asking for was released with the May issue of PlayStation Magazine.
Now, we completely understand that this does not make a date concrete nor does it give you a precise window; fortunately, we feel you can almost narrow the window down on your very own.
The fact that she stated it was coming soon in a May issue means that you probably shouldn't expect it here in April. At the very earliest, you can assume it is coming in May; however, there is a lot of reason to expect Home to launch some time in June, which in all honesty, would probably be the best for all worlds.
With the release of Home in June, it will give you a ton of time for Metal Gear Solid 4 as well as Home. This is because most of our teenage readers will be finished with school and have the ability to just play until they're finally satisfied. Obviously for our older readers, this isn't as luxurious but you'll have to make due.

Details from the Japanese Home beta test revealed just as many new questions as it did answers. The application, which is designed as a virtual world to customize and meet mates in, will be released for free, hopefully this summer. The 500MB code will enable you to setup and develop an online world inside a thriving gaming community.
Already games such as Devil May Cry 4 have been released with hundreds of embedded ‘achievements’ which on Home’s release will be converted into trophies, furniture and clothing for your own specific part of Home and avatar. The beta has revealed the flexibility of the software, enabling the 1,500 players who have tested it behind closed doors at Sony to connect with large groups of friends, tour the Home Square environment, moving from disc-based games to watching trailers to playing Home’s free arcade games (which include takes on Chopper Lift, Q-Bert and Super Sprint) all without any trouble. The idea is that eventually, you’ll be able to include similar content in your Home apartment, and invited friends and clan members will be able to sift your media (photos, videos, replays, scores, etc) together while you wait for the party to gather.
When first announced, Sony stated Home wouldn’t be a persistent world - when you leave, your space would close down so friends wouldn’t be able to tour your apartment if you weren’t there. The Japanese beta seems to have thrown this into confusion. Sony is now saying that Home will be a persistent world to such an extent that you will be able to upload media - photos from your holiday, for example, as you take them on your digital camera, in real time.
The big question is how ‘free’ Home will be when it’s released. Extra content will come at a price. Rumors suggest that future demos may come with a charge. The upside is that you should be able to sell content in Home in the same way as EA, Ubisoft and Capcom would do. If you’ve created a level in LittleBigPlanet, perhaps you could charge for it?

Well, another week, another Home story. Except this one's quite interesting: according to this guy (warning: site is advert/banner hell and kills Firefox) enterprising folk have managed to use the Folding@Home exploit to grab v1.00 of Home. Naturally, the whole would explode if people could actually play it, but despite a 200MB download the thing is still locked just now. Waiting for Sony to flick the switch? Looks like it. If they get this thing ready for April 15th, we're in for one hell of a treat next week...

When PlayStation Home finally goes live, a new icon will automatically appear under the [Network] category, without the need to update your firmware. Upon booting your PS3, the console does a simple check on two XML files to see if the service is active in your country. If it is active, the new icon appears and click on it will download the Home package to your PS3. After a bit of "hacking" using PS3 Proxy Server, we managed to get the icon showing on our console and even downloaded the Home beta file. Unfortunately, since the service isn't yet active, we were unable to play.

How to download the Beta yourself (unplayable):

   1. Download PS3 Proxy Server and install it on a Windows Machine (.NET v1.1 required)
   2. Download the following two files:
          * http://select.ww.home.playstation.net/home/ww/country-select.xml
          * http://select.ww.home.playstation.net/home/ww/product-select.xml
   3. Edit the two above files so that all occurences of "off" are replaced with "on"
   4. Use PS3 Proxy Server to redirect the locations below to the local file on your hard drive:
          * http://select.ww.home.playstation.net/home/ww/product-select.xml » x:/path-to/product-select.xml
          * http://select.ww.home.playstation.net/home/ww/country-select.xml » x:/path-to/country-select.xml

   6. Start the server and then restart your console

Bo generalnie np. mi wyskakuje, że nie można połączyć z serwerem. I tak mają ludziki na forach innych też.

Ichu... Lipa. Ściągnął się update, zainstalował, Home wylądował w zakładce GAME i nie działa już wcale. Także... czekamy do następnego tygodnia, mam nadzieję...

Uaktualnienie do powyższego sposobu:

The above download method no longer works since Sony have taken the download link offline. As a result, you will be unable to try and download the beta yourself. We can confirm that Home was available to download yesterday but was unplayable (even though the video doesn't show this part).
Basically, you can download and install home and can even connect to the Home server. However, once connected you are prompted to download an update before you can play. If you download and install the update, you receive a DRM related error and cannot start Home.

Czemu nie pokaza trailerow nowych gier, czemu nie wrzuca na sklepik jakichs dem, czemu tak czesto olewaja Europe? Mam Wii, mam Xa i mam PS3, ale chyba jedna konsole bede musial sprzedac, bo nie mam czasu, zeby az tyle grac, hmm tylko ktora :]?

Pograj na XO tak z 8 godzin i problem za dużej ilości konsol sam się rozwiąże. ;P

Cały ten Home to jakaś kpina jest. Jak chcecie więcej, lepiej, bardziej, dłużej taniej, tylko z trochę gorszą grafiką to znam taką jedną grę. Second life się nazywa. I tylko bez pierniczenia że home zaoferuje coś więcej na tym poletku poza grafiką.

Tak sie sklada, ze gralem na Xie nawet i po 16 godzin, ale chyba mam szczescie jak na razie ;D, mimo wszystko dzieki za pomysl, nawet niezly, paru kumpli juz skorzystalo, a jak X jest w serwisie to wtedy ogladaja trailery gier na PS3 :]. Akurat home malo co mnie obchodzi, ale po tych wszystkich przekladaniach zaczynam miec obawy o Killzone2, LBP i pare innych tytulow w ktore pewnie zagram w 2009, nie wspominajac juz o GT5 2010 i GOW 2011, kurde powoli zaczynam sie przyzwyczajac, a to zle!

rewolucyjne w Home jest to że łączy wszystko to w jedno. Ja w sumie czekam na home aby było łatwiej gadać z ziomkami, pograć w minigierki, popatrzeć na trofea itp.

Around July we’re going to be expanding on the closed beta phase and allowing more people to gradually come in, and then in November this year we’ll be going to the open beta.”

He added: “The extension to the closed beta allows us to have more conversations with our community. We’re very much in close conversations with them. A lot of the changes we’ve done have been the result of feedback. With Home delayed likely until the end of the year, it's at the very least comforting to know that they're still making improvements and not just making us wait. Following one of the latest updates to Home, SCEE has revealed some screenshots to display the new media room. We've included these shots below and the room seems to be within its own open-ended cavern. We're guessing this is where things like "Virtual E3" will take place in the future.

Sony’s sent out a note to Home beta testers telling them that Ubidays 2008 will be the first publisher event to be broadcast in the new Media & Events space within the service.

    The Home team and Ubisoft would like to invite you to the first ever Publisher Event in Home. Its a pretty exclusive event too as we’re still in closed beta so please try and make time to be a part of a real first.

    We’ll be in Home in the new Media & Events space on the evening of Wednesday the 28th of May between 7pm BST and 8pm BST time and Ubisoft will be showcasing their new titles for you all.
